How the **** do you survive getting that close to people and killing them with a close range weapon like that... I can't comprehend how insane that is. Watched J0lly Ranchers videos... The Way of the Scout and that dude is my new hero. HOly crap. He's my ideal character already. Shotgun, Nova Knife, and REs. Does that guy play with a mouse and keyboard??

Most of the time you don't see them until its too late and they are within 10m of you. By that time you have less than a second to kill them, or you just need to luck out and commando punch them to death.
I have clutched scout kills due to that 240 melee damage hit.

My personal death-tally from NKs after a year in-game: 7. That includes the NK event. During said event, I SMGed about 20 NK-waving scouts... and I am horrible at this game.

As everyone here said, stealth, speed, skill and a bit of luck. Easiest on hackers, trust me, as someone who has ONLY died to NK's while hacking.

Increasing scan range helps you stalk your target without needing to reveal your location. I have so much fun briefly revealing my position and then hiding as my pray comes looking for me. I wait until they think I'm long gone and then BAM! Nighty night.

1. Get passive scanning precision and range up to good levels
2. Make sure you have tons of situational awareness and target those who have very little.
3. ZN28s or better, most will say don't bother with the ZNs but a good charge and they get the job done.
4. If you care about dying, don't get greedy.
5. Even though knife kills are awesome, if your gun can do the job done w/o any fuss use it.

you are enough of a masochist to keep trying enough to
1)have really good situational awareness,
2)to get a really good feeling for when you can attack people(when they are tunnel visioning)
3)learn to flank no one really flanks enough in this game.
4)know that after spending ten times as long as any one else on the field setting up the perfect attack it can and will be completely ruined by that stupid asshat you are about to gank, looking behind him for no reason you could have accounted for.
5)be ok with the fact that you run cheep suits and die someone you couldn't see looked at you, or pro mim and you lose all your profits for the match because some half wit with a RR manged to land 4 rounds on you because they had AA on, or pro gallent and a RR you had know way in possibly seeing despite your 70+ scan range 3 hits you losing all your profits for the match. |

Using NKs will definitely improve your game, even when you're using NKs. That being said it takes a lot of patience and situational awareness. Proto NKs definitely improve your game though, most stabs become one hit kills and heavies don't last long as well. |

Or his buddy spawned behind. Or the redberry has awful gun game and gets mowed down from lack of cover before you can get into knife range. A lot of your perfect kills will go sour before they can happen. Gotta be quick and aggressive but also know when to pack it in. |

You can't attack or use equip while cloaked. You need to drop cloak, go through a delay/reorientation animation, and there will be a unique noise associated with it.
Think of it like trying to attack someone immediately after using inertia dampeners from a fall. It won't be that easy to perform gracefully. |

Yeah hitting someon that is moving is quite a task with NK, and even though the HD has singnifivcantly improved my knifes don't do any damage on occasion.
NK are not excatly a reliable weapon but they are for sure the most thrilling weapons in game. |

its expensive but fun, A good way to learn is to follow people around, one day I followed a enemy sniper from his redline always about 5m behind him, half way down the field, he took his time crouching and adjusting his view, started to charge his charge sniper, then I cut his ******* head off.
