Hi All,
I am looking to buy a new hybrid hard drive for my PS3 and would like some good suggestions. Looking for around a 500gb hard drive with a small amount of solid state capacity.
Any suggestions? |

I got the Seagate Momentus XT 750GB (8GB SSD) which works wonders for Dust. Highly recommend it.

I'm currently using the 500 GB drive on this page for $75.
If you're willing to shell out $30 more you could get a 1TB hard drive for $105. Both have the same integrated 8GB SSD.
1TB might be a little much for a PS3, I've got most of the digital games from over a year of PS+ installed on my 500gb drive and still have almost 100gb free space. But if you do invest in the 1TB drive, you can always put it in a laptop/PS4/etc in the future if you keep the original ps3 hard drive in a box somewhere |

ps4 is going to suck in the fact that ps+ is required for online multiplayer.
what is the WORLD COMING TOO!!!!!
a few years ago sony was intent on keeping the free multiplayer. it should stay that way.. but now its changed and made a turn for the worse. |

These are the drives that I have been looking at but I am not sure about the 5400RPM as I don't think that it will be quick enough if the files are not on the SSD portion.
Please let me know if this is not the case and I might invest.

Would love this drive as it was a 7200rpm drive, but I believe that it is now discontinued and replaced with the above 1TB drive that is only 5400rpm.

If the game is free to play then you will not need PS+ to play multiplayer. If it is a paid game then PS+ is required. Sony has confirmed this before the PS4 was released

1. Just buy 7200 RPM HDD. 2. If you have some free money buy SDD, but you dont take 'full' power of it at PS3.
There is few more topics about it at forum ... just searching about it ;) |

that is the problem i have with it...the subscription just being there required to play online. sure it doesnt effect f2p games. but its likely going to affect a game like destiny.. so not only will u have to pay around 60$ just to get hold of the game. u r also required to pay a subscription to play the game u just paid 60$ for.. this needs to be avoided at all costs in my opinion. which is obviously why the ps4 will suck..get rid of that ridiculous pay wall and ps4 wont suck.. |
