- The Gallante Assault bonus will be changed so that fitting requirements of hybrid weapons is no longer lowered. This means that carefully planned fits will quickly become unusable.
- The Amarr Assault will no longer have a bonus towards laser weapons. So people that skilled into the Amarr Assault just for the bonus, automatically have their responsibility for their choice nullified.
- The Minmatar Assault won't have q bonus towards sidearms. So people like me that used it simply to dual wield sidearms are unanimously acquitted of any choice they made.
And I didn't even get into how this will affect logistics.
Some people may not believe that skill bonuses mean anything, though in many cases they were the deciding factor in choosing a suit, weapon or even modules. Not having a respec totally undermines the entire "your choices matter" deal.

Game is stale.
Things are changing, a lot.
Full infantry respec (Dropsuit, Upgrades, Weaponry) lets us make the choices with the framework actually in place. Unless you're planning to surprise us with Minmatar and Amarr vehicles, in which case, full respec.
I however have lost my ability to hope for cool things with patches (it's not all bad, there's plenty of good, sorry devs not trying to hate >_<), so I'll just wait till it's here and go from there.

Also, perma locked ISK fountains all over Molden Heath are 9823% more damaging to the game than any kind of respec ever could be. Contrary to popular belief, respecs do not change 5 million SP into 10 million SP.
I still do feel cheated I got a vehicle respect but didn't get Amarr HAV....but I spent my SP...gotta live with that for now.

People flipping their **** over this respec first assume that respecs will become "on demand", which has never once happened, nor is there any existing evidence even suggesting that this would become a thing. Respecs are very important in an FPS environment with drastically shifting components, especially one that claims to provide racial symmetry through the simple act of putting EVE on the title, yet could not deliver. Once they have a framework actually in place, then, and only then, can they start claiming that our decisions have weight. Until then, it's just **** in the wind.
People changing up their tactics and fits is a GOOD thing, it keeps the game INTERESTING, and keeps people INTERESTED

I have always been against respecs. As soon as something new is added, people freak out and demand a respec.
However, the possible changes to the assault and logi suits drastically changes the roles of these suits. And these are not new items being added. These are items that have been around for a while that players have trained and dedicated their SP on based on their roles and stats at the time. And the bonuses they had and they new ones they might get will affect the way they are used and the weapons players use with them.
So I am actually for a respec now due to the drastic changes that 1.8 might deliver.
I hope CCP gets their plans better organized because drastic changes like the one proposed will spark a respec demand from the community.
And regardless of what people think, respecs ARE bad for the longevity of this game.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.
The only way to ensure freedom is by having the means to defend it.

Well, this AND the fact that we're getting more racial suit variants, AND the fact that we already got racial rifle variants without a respec... I don't like the idea of getting respecs because new things are being added. I just want a respec for things that will be drastically changed so as to serve a different purpose than the one I chose it for originally. Adding new Scout suits IS a change to Scouts. Adding new Heavy suits IS a change to Heavies. Adding new racial Rifles IS a change to the existing Rifles.
The fact that many of the stats and skill bonuses for the existing items are also changing is just added incentive for it.
Many people have skilled into a particular rifle and suit because of the interactions between them (Amarr + Scrambler/Laser Rifle), and changing to another suit will invalidate the reason for their weapon choice.
When several suit bonuses were changed in previous post-Uprising updates, there hasn't been a respec offered.
I think the accumulated changes should validate a respec even if this specific reason doesn't - at least not by itself. |

It was that and the amarr changes that really set them off. I think a 10% armor repairer efficiency on gallente could be fun though. Overall the community didn't like the assault changes most wanting a bonus of some type to racial weaponry or wanting to fall in line with racial doctrines from eve. |

People need to separate these two cases:
1. If CCP adds the full racial representation, we should get a respec.
2. If CCP in the future adds a variation of a racial suit to the game, you should not get a respec (something that you do not need to spend SP to get).
I believe (2) is why EVE dudes are against respecs, since if a ship is added in EVE, it is under an already existing skill. If a new suit is added in Dust 514, it will be under a completely new skill and add another SP sink. The flaw is actually in the Dust 514 skill system. Until this flaw is corrected, we are entitled to respecs when skills are changed.
We need skills like for example: Hybrid light weapons unlocking ALL hybrid light weaponry (RR, PLC, AR, Shotgun). And then specialization skills to further specialize one of these weapons. Same with dropsuits, one skill to unlock all racial dropsuits, one to specialize.
I am actually hoping for a infantry skill tree revamp in 1.8.

I think all the arguments for have been made. I think we all have to sit and wait to see what CCP decides to do at this point. There are a thousand threads about why we should get a partial refund and arguments for each one. There is nothing to else to do but wait for an announcement, which is annoying but what else can we do but wait and see? |

We should not get full a full respec when racial parity is achieved. This is because people will always be asking for a constant respec anytime a new object is inputted. Minmatar Precision Rifle? Refund my Sniper Rifle SP. Gallante knives? Respec my Nova Knives...
No, just no.
Just train up.the skill like everybody else. The New objects do not make old objects in valid. People are just trying to have their cake and eat it too in a F2P game that sales SP boosters.

Yah, IMO the logistic hit is pretty hard SP wise at least. G-logi here, and all of a sudden I'm wandering why I am skilled into uplinks and repair tools at all. What do I need a repair tool for when I can run a 100% needle. I'd much rather have more nano hives than run a gimped uplink (I will quite gladly leave th uplinking to other Amarrian logies that I run with.
Because of this I think that if there is a respec, the "dropsuit upgrades" skill tree needs to be included as well.

Why with the constant respec debate? It's pretty simple. We made role playing choices based on the skill tree we were given. If that skill tree (or portions of it) are being fundamentally reworked then a respec is justified, because CCP has invalidated our choices.

I am against respec when adding new content to the game, like with the new guns, they just added 2 new guns and din nothing about the old weapons.
However when changing the fundamental mechanics on a large scale as they are doing with suits then yes a respec is okey.
So I am al for a respec in the dropsuits command part of the skills.
Thorn about respec on the equipment part but a big NO on weapons.
