Now that the cloaking device is about to come out, I was thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to allow attacking others with nova knives without deactivating the cloaking device while doing so. This feature would only work while using nova knives, any other weapon/equipment would instantly deactivate the cloaking device as it was already stated.

Well, we don't know for sure what the sound will even be. For all we know it could be just the subtle respawn humming sound you hear every now and then but hardly notice it when you're busy getting shot at by someone else. Or it could be even less noticeable. No one knows. That and as far I know, deactivating the cloak won't cause any attack delays.
I'm not sure about allowing knives to strike from a cloaked state. I'm not saying I'm against it. I'm just saying I don't know whether to support this feature or be against it. I'm trying to view this from a gameplay perspective. That and I don't have a PS3 anymore so I haven't been able to play for 3 months already. Of course, tax season in the US is looking quite profitable recently so I might get back on sooner than I expected.

yeah, but you are 100% invis(w/ infinite duration might I add) unless your collide with an enemy or take damage. If I understand correctly to a degree you will be visible, and even more so while moving which is complete BS, if you can't take any action.

I have thought of this as well, I don't like the ideao of staying cloaked when NK are used. But it should be possible to switch to NK and charge them cloaked biut as soon as your first strike happens your cloak should immediatly be deactivated and fully depleted. |

CCP confirmed that you MUST hold in your hands the Cloak device in order to maintain disguised. Switching weapon will instantly result in decloacking (with related sound and VFX).
Unless CCP decides to change this mechanic, and I honestly see no reason for doing that, your idea is not going to get added in game.

Unless CCP decides to change this mechanic, and I honestly see no reason for doing that, your idea is not going to get added in game. That is too bad. They are nerfing the cloak before even trying them out. Man do people love to complain. It was welcoming the idea of cloaked scouts, but it seems they are being nerfed far too much before we even get to try them.
I was hoping to have invisible scouts trying to kill me. Oh well, no challenge I guess is what people prefer. These cloaked scouts will be far too easy to deal with it seems. |

The CPM throws in every little piece off influence they had to prenerf cloaking. I just wish they had the same passion as the new HAV's and Rifles were introduced...
Well now the cloak is propably the most expensive equipment in terms of fitting requirements and one of the least usefull as well.
But as cloaks are supposed to be scout equipment it was rather obvious that it won't be powerful.... |

Cloaked nova knives sound like fun. And I say that as someone who hates using knives.
I want this to happen to murder all those scrubs who think that invisibility is a forcefield that will protect them from my wrath. I, for one, will notice any shimmer at that range, no matter how subtle it is.
Edit: The current cloak doesn't sound all that bad, by the way. The instant decloak is actually a nice feature for assaulting groups of people with REs and similar nice tactics. You can sprint while cloaking and it reduces your scan profile heavily. That alone makes it quite useful. I'm glad that, from what we currently know, the CPM haven't achieved a prenerf. |

Unfortunately, nova knives are going to be useless again on a scout, unless the sprint interrupt is fixed

Kinda my point here, if you only have 30-80 seconds while being invisible it wouldn't be any kind of disadvantage to others if scouts can kill using NK while cloaking. As many of you have stated, you will emit a sound (making you visible on the radar as it detects noise) and you can also be detected by the crosshairs (they'll turn red) and also you'll be visible on a certain degree on plain sight (in case you're not detected by radar or crosshairs). And considering that most scouts can practically be killed by just looking at them I think allowing scouts to use NK while cloaking would allow them to have a better role on the battlefield (being a true shinobi assasin).

You're assuming CCP initially developed the Cloak Field as "stealth kill equipment". Nothing more wrong: the idea behind is to provide a tool which allows safety traveling and/or sneaking up behind enemy lines.
Doing stealth kills would only mess up this game. Totally.

NOPE.
You won't need to be invisible when you are behind people (They can't see you anyways)
This will only encourage people to go perma-invisible and stab people by running straight up to them. No skill at all.
The cloak should be used to cross open ground where you are easily killed. Once behind enemy lines, cloak goes off to let it recharge, and you just be sneaky and use your dampening to avoid detection.
Get the flank, knife some red dots, and then run away. Once you break LOS, turn that cloak back on. Keep it on until they give up the hunt.
De-cloak, and repeat the process.
Nothing says "F**K YOU!" like a direct Flaylock to the face.

I don't agree with knifing (or shooting) while invisible, but I would agree with no ATK delay for knives when using cloaks.

Thinking that the decloak sound will make Knives unusable is thinking too much in a vacuum. Yes, sitting there, not listening to comms, not shooting, not moving, not hearing anyone else shooting, you can hear it. But add in trying to fight other enemies, listening to your allies shoot, maybe the hum of equipment, are you going to hear that decloak every time? No way.
I use a tank and have done so since about March of last year, so don't call me a bandwagon dude. Anyhoo, Remote Explosives are hands down the most dangerous thing other than other tanks. If I am firing, I cannot hear the 'deploy equipment' sounds. You know, that "zii-chhh" sound, same as when throwing nanohives/uplinks. If I am paying attention, so I don't hear shooting, comms, or am focused on trying to see if there is another tank on the map, I can barely hear it. Add any kind of distraction and it blends in too much. I beat cloaks will be similar. Maybe the Cloak skill will reduce the volume of the decloak sound? |

What about if you are able to hold the cloaking device in one hand, while you can use one NK in the other hand to deal half the damage as usal while still remaining invisible? I think is not a disadvantage for others as scouts don't have a really strong rol in the battlefield, it would be more for "self-defense" while protecting a null canon for example.
