This is my own design based loosely on the ah64 apache longbow
It's a CaldarI variant of what the assault attack ships should look like in my opinion
Ps this was done at work in my lunchtime so it is a bit rough

Would love to see what CCP thinks about this
If I had the time I would of made it properly with all the moving components instead of doing a basic box model but hey something is better then nothing, and this was done in solidworks not 3DS-max so it looks a bit chubby but the medium missile pods and the double HMG anti personal turrets on the front are awesome ideas for medium sized turrets for upcoming vehicles

In the same ways jets use there wings yes
My opinion of this would be like the ah64 for firepower and the f-35 lighting ii on flight capabilities
This would be a heavy skill tree and need dedicated pilots, fairly weak against av but resistant to small arms fire and would be fast and agile. I'm thinking more of a tank buster and a two man flight team so the secondary pilot can use the front turrets while the primary pilot flys and uses the missiles for support |

The design doesn't make sense for the movement of dropships we have now.
If this goes towards fighters or bombers, ok but not for DS...
And secondly I think this design is to much related to present day stuff you know from earth, as you sayd, AH64 and f-35.
This is a sci fi shooter, do not make it look like battlefield.

True but with the rotating thrusters and the cockpit setup I think the would fit in to this game very well
There's always room to change things but as a fighter / bomber the design is pretty cool |

The wings you put on there, only make sense for vehicles that rely mainly on aerodynamics to lift their weight. Dropships use their thrusters to lift them up, so no wings needed.
Also the fixed gun mounts make more sense on a plane kind vehicle then a chopper like vehicle.
genrally I would like them to bring other stuff first before we even think of fighter/bombers. APCs for example are what's needed more, to move troops betwheen all those tanks without loosing to much personnel.
Also the 1 man hover bikes would be nice to see first.

There's lots of stuff that needs to introduced but a fixed wing fast attack ship would be awesome
I didn't mean replace the dropships with these but it would be nice for fly an actual attack vehicle
I probably should of named the title new air vehicle idea :P
And hover bikes would be a good idea but mtac's would be better :) |

I agree that the assault drop ship should be more of a gunship. Though if it had more then 1 small missile turret forward facing it'd decimate infantry and tanks. On a small map it'd be super OP. Once the larger maps open up and we get proper aircraft as a counter I can see it happening.
Love the design although I feel it is too close to modern. |
