Mostly I'm picturing sitting on a transport on the way to board an enemy titan playing this on the way. (give it the first two tracks) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YP2WhjzbUws&list=PL12CD8DB055266BAE
also I may have been drinking rum and the whole scenario is likely way better in my head

Eve battles are over far too fast to make this feasible. There was an idea of having mercs deploy to special salvage sites in Eve, in which Eve pilots deploy mercs onto a structure in order to retrieve valuable salvage. If someone could link the thread, I'd really appreciate it. |

I think Having a Dynamic where DUST Mercenaries are needed For Outpost Flipping would start to bring the DUST mercenaries into true EVE 0.0 alliances. |

I don't think we'll ever have boarding ships TBH. I think stations are going to happen though.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.

Honestly I don't really think it'll happen either, but would be interesting.
Intel/salvage retrieval from destroyed enemy ships could be an interesting idea, and a way to work in PvE, gotta fight off some drones in the process.

8 hours with or without TiDi? Plus those battles are so crowded there's no way the nodes could handle multiple squads of mersa as well. It's the drones that messed up the fight at HED so badly, imagine how much more in terms of resources one merc takes over a drone.

DUST is the answer to so many dead end problems in EVE. It's just getting the game to the point where it can facilitate them.
They where talking about making outposts destructable FFS, I spent a lot of time over the years putting up over a dozen with friends.
Making Outposts Mercenary based battle flips and strategic point's that limit your ability to expand territory and maintenance it.
POS's being an archiac mechanic needing massive reworks in how they work in Sov and player ownership challenging.
Super Capitals. Just killing thousands and thousands of dollars without having the option to capture it and rework it into your alliance assets, needs to be a thing! and a huge reason people talked about DUST. Boarding ships from back in 2006 and mercenaries and planet atmosphere's.
Planetary Infrastructure. The Resources created under every mercenaries feet pretty much RUNS EVE. Without them the POS's and 0.0 Structures cannot run and no player can own space. DUST was supposed to be an integral part in this.
Planet's actually being part of the Sovereignty Mechanics in EVE and flipping Sov in EVE... Needing to send in DUSt mercenaries when invading space to disrupt PI supplies, Take over Planet districts and be an integral part in changing Sov in EVE.
So much without even thinking about the PVE aspect. |
