With the next buff to armor, shield and armor repair coming 1.8, the rifle that it has never be touched before, maintain its stats from the beggining of the game and still without a change for good is the sniper rifle. The damage still the same and it will be good for a increase in the damage in all the variants of the sniper rifle. The increase of the sniper could be:
Militia - Standard Sniper Rifle: from 209 - to 219 Standard Tactic Sniper Rifle: from 177 - to 185
Advanced NT-511 Sniper Rifle: from 219 - to 229 Advanced C-15 Tactic Sniper Rifle: from 185 - to 195
Prototype Ishukone Sniper Rifle: from 229 - to 239 Prototype Kaalakiota Tactic Sniper Rifle: from 195 - to 204 Charge Sniper Rifle: from 321 - to 334
The Thale's Tar 07 Sniper Rifle could be the same with 355, the difference with the Charge one is that it doesnt need to charge up and 20pr more of damage.

Sniper rifles should just be removed from the game until CCP can make snipers actually useful to the team. As it is the only things snipers do better than any other class is annoy people, which really isn't the mark of a useful fit. Before they even think about damage changes to sniper rifles CCP needs to implement:
1) WP for marking enemies (which can be done when ADSing)
2) WP for suppression (if you are shooting near people and scaring them then you should earn something) of enemies shooting your squad mates <-- this last part is key as it forces team play, something snipers have no real impetus to do right now.
3) E-War: Snipers would be much more useful if they were able to deploy items that disrupted tac net making OBs impossibe and preventing the sharing of info from a team mate's active scans and possibly even making it hard to see the map during the spawn in screen (no more seeing the enemy when you're dead). This EQ would have to be extremely low HP so that while valuable it would need to be deployed away from battle (thus the sniper taking on a role that would actually help the team).
I should state that I have nothing personal against snipers I just feel that they are the only play type not required to engage in team play activites to have a "successful battle." Snipers need more encouragement to actually be a part of the team playing with their squad mates, not just parallel playing in the corner like some kid with Autism. Your not actually playing together if your not interacting after all.

I don't see why not, this small of a change wouldn't have too huge of an impact. That being said, there should be more incentive for snippers to leave the redline sitting back and picking off seven people and ending with 350 WP, as this does a team little to no good.

Variable scopes are more important, imo. That would let snipers be useful at different ranges. Part of the reason you mostly see snipers on the redline is that The fixed scope is only useful at certain ranges, so you might as well hang out in an open area that is suited for the scope and camp.
Try to kill it all you want CCP, I still <3 my laser.

"the difference with the Charge one is that it doesnt need to charge up" *Facepalm* This takes away from the whole idea of The Charge sniper rifle.
Snipers are fine as they are bud. Charge sniper plus damage mods is enough to cut any suit in half. Headshots are what kills people. It makes sense to let suits live if it's only a bodyshot.

Your not actually playing together if your not interacting after all. Definitely agreed.
Personally I stopped sniping when I realized that me not hitting was not me being bad at the game, but the game being really horrible at hit detection. The role needs to be defined by more than just annoying people. Currently, it's only useful on maybe one or two maps, in very specific circumstances. There is a tower spawn situation on one of the maps where a sniper can deny that angle of attack completely by using a rock about two hundred meters away as cover. |
