...and for the team that is being redlined and trying to fight there way out or at least not quitting the match? Seems like their hives should continue to work, right?
I like the thrust of your idea and my point is that there are very few ways to NOT "screw someone over" with the proposed redline fixes.

There are many Supply Depots in the Redline depending on the map. Just running to one of them after your 30 shots doesn't really stop the tactic. It would likely mean that the people that are Redline Sniper would just grab a Railgun and do the same thing.
It is a decent idea but it isn't as much of a pure fix as I am sure many of us would like. Elegant though. |

what about making it so that bullets don't register going into or out from the redline?
no more redline sniping and redlining is rendered pretty much useless.

I never liked the whole "If you can't fire in the redline then as as soon as you start getting pushed back it's game over" argument. As soon as you start getting redlined, you already lost anyways. What we need is no firing while in the redline and a mercy victory condition set for when you hold all objectives a certain amount of time.

There would then be these posts online:
"Redline Tanks are even worse now! They just sit on a mountain, right on the edge of the Redline, and shoot everything on the field, the second they start to take damage, they just roll an inch and are instantly safe." "I hate the Redline! This tank was harassing us all match so I got in my ADS and managed to get right above him. I would have killed him too if the Redline didn't make the killing blow not register!"
I have said it several times before and I will say it several times again: the Redline is a serious issue that has no right answer. Every scenario that I have read or thought of results in either changing little or results in "how are we going to call in vehicles or muster an attack once we are pushed back to our MCC? If that happens in the first 5 minutes of a match, should we just play patty-cake in the MCC before it explodes?"
A one-way shield is interesting but how does that work for Dropships? Do they just hit the wall and instantly explode? Seems unfair as they need a much larger map than we have.
Keeping things as they are no keep with the literal no risk, all reward scenario with Redline Railguns and Snipers. Even if it isn't an overpowered tactic, which it isn't overpowered, it is still incredibly frustrating on ludicrous levels. As bad as BPO Murder Taxis. Not being able to field a Tank to fight their Blaster Tanks because they have a Redline Railgunner that is going to push you back before you can engage their Tanks is frustrating. Getting shot by a Sniper and having absolutely no idea where they are in the Redline is frustrating.

this has already been done successfully in the game BF2142
In this game there is no redline, the enemy can enter the other teams base. The MCC's were called titans and they had turrets that pointed only down, they could be manned to defend the base. The MCC had a cargo bay that you could launch dropships off of, we never had a problem with redline sniping in that game. Look on youtube, search for "bf2142 titan mode", and you will see what I am talking about. |

CONCORD would place heavy restrictions on mercs outside of sanctioned battlezones. Inside we are free to do our jobs, outside we are locked down, monitored, with fingers probably hovering over a killswitch.

After careful thinking I have concluded that there is nothing wrong with redline sniping. There just isn't. I've gotten skilled enough with my tier 2 tactical sniper rifle that I have yet to not be able to get a red line sniper back. Except for the ones that stick and move real well. |

This really is tge best idea I have heard. Redline snipe me and believe me they will only hear their brains busting out their noses as I let freedom reign with a shotgun blast. +1
This would also help allow redline tanks to get what's coming to them

I definetly concur that victory conditions could be adjusted to help out with this.
An alternative solution would be for countering the redlining would be auto-deploying CRUs if the enemy owns all points for more than one minute...it drops near one or two near some random objectives and is already "blue" when it lands.

It seems like with the new maps we are getting more facilities. Which means, it seems that the snipers are becoming an endangered species.

I have no problems with redline snipers. They're usually easy prey for me with my SR.
When I play as a sniper, I'm more likely to be nearer to the opponents redline than my own.
