The more I watch MGS V videos the more I know the PS4 is getting picked up on MGS V day one and the PS3 will probably get tossed into the darkness.

After all when a metal gear game comes out, I'm gone for at least a month. Now with MGO in the recent games that's turned into three months. |

Dust will be fine. It's not like you have to throw your PS3 out just because you got a PS4 either, though there is always the chance Dust 514 becomes available through PlayStation Now, the PS4 streaming service, this Summer. Either way I wouldn't expect a native PS4 version of Dust anytime soon.

Anyway op they aren't gonna port it , so you might want to spend the last of your wonder moments with dust .... it might be painful but if you try you can do it . |

Since the original MGS on the PS1, all the others have been over bloated, pretentious tosh and nothing more than repository for tedious and catatonic inducing 1080p pre-rendered cutscenes with as much gaming influence over the proceedings as a tuna salad has over the international monetary crisis.

What would porting to the PS4 do? Is there something intrinsic to the PS3's hardware that makes weapons OP or disables the missing racial suit variants?
Think people! moving to the PS4 now accomplishes nothing. IMO, Dust's best hope for major success is to get everything straightened out on the PS3 and then have a major "reboot" (or whatever term they decide to use) on the PS4 with everything working. Marketing blitz ensues, playerbase grows, ???, profit.

When The Division or Destiny comes out is when I'll probably consider dropping DUST. Real-time open worlds to explore, real integration of multiplayer and pve. Something DUST is truly behind on.
There's no real sense of making an actual impact on the world's we fight on other than stats. We come into the maps and it's the exact same map, exact same "burning wreckage" sitting in the exact same spot.
We go in, fight, collect ISK, loyalty points, salvage, and then leave. Rinse repeat.
I'd like to go into a battlefield and have that feeling that something has actually been affected on the battlefield terrain itself. I imagine PC battles as being a truly persistent battle that your thrown into and it's already underway. Not like it is now where you join in a lobby, wait, and then the battle starts. That is not a persistent warfare.
It would be great to see a district that's being attacked, whether it be an alliance corp or your own core territory, an alert is sent out like a distress message requesting for reinforcements and you answer the call. Then you come in on a dropship or one of those orbital launched CRU's and land on the nearby ground base with the battle already underway. This would be awesome. |

Didn't kill it,but those games chipped away at Dust a little,and slowly but surely,without the move to PS4,there will be MAG in it's final days numbers on Dust.That's around five hundred players online.
While I don't think Metal Gear V will be the killer,let's just look at what's on the horizon to keep gamers buys this year.
First out of the gate is Titanfall.I personally don't think a hell of a lot of this game,but it might pull 100 or so players away for a while.
Next is Thief, MGS V,and iNFamous Second Son.Personally,I will have my PS4 for those games.While not FPS,they offer the first real next gen games that gamers are looking for.
So after that,you have Watchdogs,and Planetside 2.I've played PS2 on PC,and couldn't really get into it,but there are quite a few people here that are pretty much ready to dump Dust for it.I say at that point,we will be seeing maybe 2000~2500 regular players,which is about 1000 players down from where we are now.
End of summer,imo,is where things come to a head with the release of Destiny.While PS2 has the potential to be a staggering blow to Dust,Destiny could very well be the knock out blow.We could see playercount down to around 1500.
Other games that haven't had release dates announced like The Division,Wolfenstein,Deep Down,Elder's Scrolls Online,this is more evidence that Dust is facing a major uphill battle in the coming year.

There's some truly amazing details I've seen on PS4 graphics since launch, and I can just imagine how awesome DUST would look. The unreal engine is not the best engine to run on PS3. But it'll run great on PS4. |

Also people need to understand that the Unreal Engine 3 can look way better than Dust 514. Even on PS3. I mean seriouly: Is Dust 514 the onl game you play on PS3?!

It's not about how it looks,rather how it runs.Visual fidelity is one thing,but visual optimization is another.The things I pointed out are more towards the game running better than looking better.
Unfortunately,I think that you are right that the game won't be moving to PS4,at least no time in the near future. |

You Do realize Destiny.. Will be released on both the PS3 and the Xbox360 and offer no performance loss to the next generation...

Bringing any game to a market that could have at the MAX 12 million by the end of the year? would be only for branding purposes because getting a big return on any lengthy development process would be next to impossible.
Optimizing DUST to run at it's peak ability on the current generation is the best thing this game can do to get ready for the next generation market.. And even when they are ready? CCP will Multi platform the PS3 and the PS4 because that is CCP's history of how they expand and keep their product relevant in a changing hardware/software scene. |

I'm getting a PS4 when Destiny arrives. There's no way in hell I'm trading in my PS3 to get one either. Or selling it. Especially since PS4 is lacking in the media department and my PS3 is the entertainment hub in my chill out room.
Just keep your PS3. PSNow will not be your savior.

I wish people would stop saying this.That 80 million is "sold in" figures,which means that Sony has sold 80 million consoles to retailers,but 80 million people don't have a PS3.Also add to the fact that a percentage of people have bought multiple consoles.
This is also my problem with CCP's thinking when they were talking at EVE Vegas.The main guy was saying that since there are 80 million PS3's sold,that they didn't need to focus on moving that game to the PS4.Well,just because there have been 80 millioin consoles sold from Sony to retailers,well,I think the proof is in the pudding considering that we can't even get 5000 people online at once,let alone have never cracked 10k players online ever. |

i really could not care for better graphics or other shite.. but CCP is making a big mistake by not porting it over now. some one said there that there is 80 mill ps4 sold..( that may be just to the shops, but with alot of places sold out of em id say that number is pretty close)..
so its safe to say that there's a few million PS4 owners out there. with nothing to play and waiting for the new releases. imagine if even a 10th of those players bothered to download dust and maybe bought a mercenary pack and see what the game is like. CCP would get a massive fund injection into their wallet. which would mean they are able to hire more staff to work on the game and we get things quicker.
but i suppose they'll just do it there way.. by loosing playerbase and money.. and letting go of a few staff members along the way. and maybe they will port it over later when they have to compete with games like Destiny, PS2 and more, with no advertisement.... |

Over this past weekend I have become the owner of an XBOX one and PS4 and while both are good in their own rights .. I am glad that Dust 514 is not on the PS4. What are you people thinking about shelling out money and then asking for the " FATAL " crashing bug to be released into your newly purchased console and with the EWLA or whatever it is called , they are not responsible for the outcomes if your system locks . I mean are you people thinking or are that hard up for problems in your lives that you would risk what could be around a thousand dollars with accessories ?

The idea of Dust514 is that its Accessible.
Until the PS4 is accessible, then Dust must stay in Ps3.
