No. That would mean having to change the slot layouts of the current suits as well as that of the new suits. There are also the bonuses of the suits to consider if the current slot arrangements are retained instead. It could potentially throw balancing out of whack.
This is definitely NOT something I want CCP to waste their time on.

It would be better if CCP had just stuck with the Eve model and had Highs, Mediums, and Lows. But, they didn't.
At this point we can only wait to see what fresh joys come down the pipes and try to provide feedback that they may listen to and live with it.
The most OP weapon on the Dust Battle Field:
One good logi, one rep tool, and a heavy.

It probably would've been better that way if they have copied the Eve layout. But it's too late now. We've all gotten use to this and trying to turn the current layout into the Eve style slot arrangements would be a waste of resources at this point. I would rather have CCP focus on more pressing matters such as...
1. Finishing the core content such as PvE, Racial Parity, and Secondary Market.
2. Finishing with the vehicle rebalancing as they promised.
3. Overhaul Planetary Conquest and finish touching up on Faction Warfare.
