I hate to be asking this because I have been playing this game for a while, but stuff has just gotten ridiculous since 1.7:
I need help with survivability on my Minmatar logi suits. I know they are supposed to be faster than the other race's suits but it just doesn't feel that way, and honestly a lot of times I feel slower (than other medium suits). I've tried a few different combinations of armor/shields and neither seems to make much of a difference. I have tried adding on cardiac regulators and/or kinetic catalyizers which I can tell increase my speed, but they don't seem to do squat for me if I'm running in a firefight (even with someone 25m away).
More than anything I feel like I'm done for if someone with even a militia AR gets behind me because by sound it seems almost like I'm dead in two shots...whereas I can unload a clip from a GEK into someones back, and they still manage to have time to turn around and kill me, their health barely scratched.
I do have my Armor and Shield skills at level 5, and I have access to both enhanced armor plates and enhanced shield extenders, energizers, regulators, and rechargers......access to advanced minmatar logi suits (and assault suits for that matter). I have a decent amount of CPU and PG left on my logi suits to add more if need be, but I don't know. Am I really dying that quickly from normal gunfire or does everyone seem to manage headshots that I just can't muster on a 100% basis?
If anyone has any advice on a build for this suit as far as modules and such goes, it would be greatly appreciated! |

Plates will slow you down. If you want to be fast, don't fit plates.
Also, a Logi's base speed is slower than a Medium Suits (most likely becaue of all the stuff we carry).

Yeah, I've tried going with straight up shield boosters but still felt tremendously squishy. At this point I started fitting some plates to try to just have more total HP

Yea, Logistics are never fast. My Gallente Logistics is slower than all low-level heavies, and some proto heavies, because I need to fit 5 plates.
Key to using shields: Use cover often and fit low slots with high-tier Regulators.

I fit a cardiac regulator to help get into position and then setup shop. If someone goes down out in the open I'll let them die out there. My job is to keep point defenders at full operational capacity and cover them while they are reloading. If I'm on my own I can fend off many assaults but I maintain cover as much as possible and make the enemy break cover to get to me.
A logi that escorts an assault squad will operate differently.

I get that part of it, but when I have trouble going toe to toe with pretty much any dropsuit...that seems not right somehow. Granted, I'm not the best shot when it comes to FPS games, but even on enemies when I know every shot is hitting them, and they still don't die, versus me dying in what sounds like 2 or 3 shots just makes me feel like there is something more I should be doing with my modules that I haven't figured out yet. I've used enhanced level weapons and still don't seem to get very far...on rare occassions I will manage to survive a few firefights...but not directly. |

How far have you skilled into Dropsuit Core Upgrades? Have you tested out the Militia versions of the different weapon types (via use of the initial SP of a "test merc"), and found one you'd be comfortable sticking with? How many of your skill points have gone into Weaponry plus Weapon Operation? Finally, if running Minmatar logistics, have you read The Logi Code LogiBro Guide? If not, or if its been a while, please read it. An exceptional piece for newcomers and vets alike; hands-down one of the most authoritative (if not the most) guides written about what it takes to become a true logistics player (LogiBro). |

I think you're going to be a bit disappointed. I have a proto min logi, but I only bring out my ADV logi unless I'm in PC/FW with a GREAT squad. I run 3 armor plates and 1 shield extender and 1 shield regulator on my ADV. My armor and shield skills are also at 5.
That being said, I pretty much get sneezed on and flop to the ground. However, I've also come to terms that:
1. There is a caliber of player that I will never be. Some players just seem to be able to hit me across the map at distances I can barely hold a bead on them. Usually hard hitting RRs (last night it was a laser rifle !). No amount of strafing or running lets me escape from them so I just tend to fire back with all I got in hopes that another blue can finish them off. I honestly don't see a way around this.
2. I'm not frontline material and need to stop getting over eager. I just get eager. It's dumb and it costs me not only my own life but those of my fellow blues. Just last night I was playing so stupid. I practically led the enemy heavy around the corner to cream both me and a fellow greenberry. Repeatedly. After the game, I apologized and gave him money to cover the suits lost from my stupidity.
I found I started to really hit my stride when I kept to the rear, I scanned for reds as often as I could for my team. I stayed behind cover. Only popped out and engaged when I knew my blues were flanking and I wanted to give the reds the impression I was an easy kill (and I am....). I basically have EQ in my hand over 70% of the game. If you need firepower, I'm not your gal. Ever. I basically think of myself as the disappearing delivery man. I pop in with ammo/heals/stabby needle, then I'm out.
TL;DR You're squishy and no amount of speed or hopping around will save you. Once I started focusing on supporting more and practically forgetting I had a gun on my suit, I became uniquely aware of when my gun should be out to help the team.

Speed tanking died when 1.7 hit with the buff to AA and hit detection.
Most successful Minmatar logis tend to stay on the flanks and behind the action because they are so squishy, using their speed to rapidly flank/reposition. |

I've tried armor tanking and shield tanking on Min logi, and what I finally settled on was an energizer and two enhanced ferroscale. It may not work for you but I find it fits my style. |

I am not sure whether this is a glitch or a feature, but if you try to sprint when you are getting shot you will slow down to crouching speeds. I find this to be one of the most frustrating and infuriating features of this game. It makes you feel helpless as you try to dash for cover and go into slow motion.

It is possible to break the AA lock if you move out of its tolerance area. This is affective against less skilled players, and Heavies (due to the slow turn speed of the HMG). It does not work against skilled shooters, but then skilled shooters donGÇÖt need AA anyway.

Logi was my first class since I started playing a year ago, and I went Min logi when the variants came out. so it was the first suit I spent a lot of time playing. I run, at minimum, 1 complex damage mods on all fittings I make, and usually a second dam mod, highest I can fit depending on what other mods/equipment the fitting requires. With Min logi, my experience is that a strong offense is a good defense for this suit. If you couple that with using your cover, as well as playing behind the assault guys a bit more, that should increase your survivability. A Min logi suit with dual complex dam mods, running a GEK with Prof 5 can be a potent combo, if you play it right -- if you land the majority of your shots 1 vs. 1, you can surprise a lot of mercs to the point where they run back into cover before they can finish you off, allowing you to escape at least.
Gal logi, I don't run any dam mods, but that suit has the tank to sustain decent damage. Prolly will get into them at some point on that suit.

I've been playing minmitar logi since forever and I will tell you one thing.
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR SPEED. I promise you, it may seem like a great feature, but in the long run, armor plating will help you so much more. If your running 4 enhanced armor plates (you wont need armor reps until 1.8) and 2-4 Complex damage mods, it will increase your survivability so much more.
Stop worrying about how fast you are, because your strafing speed will never matter against skilled shooters, only newbies. Worry more about how much HP you have, and how much damage you are able to dish out before getting splattered. Another thing is, I highly suggest you buy into the hype and invest into a new type of weapon, unless you are willing to upgrade your proficiency on the AR. The AR is a good weapon, but the Rail Rifle and Combat Rifle are, IMO, much better. Once you've mastered the burst on the Combat Rifle, most other weapons are inferior, but it takes a bit of practice, similar to using the charge on the scrambler rifle.
I also suggest RRs if you're going to go support, because it's an excellent range weapon and can dish out some serious damage, even without damage mods. With damage mods, it's a different type of beast.
Armor + Damage + Practice = Everything you will need to kill as a logi.
This is coming from a full proto logi, add me on PSN, TerrifiedPotato and I can show you a few tips if you're up for it. |

This sounds a lot like me actually..though I'm not to proto suits yet. I have seriously considered putting a militia scrambler pistol on my suit so i can force myself to do better about not trying to go looking for a fight.

I'll add you when I get the chance. I can't use RRs though. I am horrible with those things X.x. I guess one reason i was so concerned with speed is that as I understand it, that is the tanking field of the Mins. But as my boyfriend put it, Minmatar is like "hard mode" for Dust. Might switch to Gallente if I can get a respec.... |
