Was placed in a skirmish match earlier that was 10 people vs. 2 (of which one immediately bailed.) So after destroying some turrets and a CRU, I decided to goof off and shoot my standard combat rifle at the side of a container. Looking through the scope, I targeted a small box and fired. And fired. And fired some more. My crosshair never budged! I fired like a madman as fast as I could and maybe two or three times did my aim actually shift, and that was only temporary. When I simply kept the trigger squeezed, the crosshair NEVER budged. Perhaps I was simply too close to the target? Nope...I backed away another ten meters or so and was still shooting with pinpoint accuracy.
Am I mistaken, or doesn't the Combat Rifle skill supposedly reduce kick? I only have the first level unlocked, and the kick is almost non-existent.
Full disclosure: I was stationary the entire time I was shooting, but I know from experience that the SMG, AR and RR will all kick even when you aren't moving. Has anyone else noticed anything similar? Does this need to be fixed?
Life is killing me.

I have not experienced the same behavior. As I hold the trigger my rifle kicks up and a bit to the left. Tapping the trigger results in little, if any movement.
I have level 5 btw.
I spent half my ISK on gambling, alcohol and wild women. The other half I wasted.

Its the Combat Rifle fire mechanic, because its Burst, you reset any recoil you do get everytime. HOWEVER the actual rate of recoil on any of the rifles is terrible.
Pair this with pinpoint accuracy, lack of kick, lack of momentum, lack of dispersion and its easier to find why the Rifles are overpowerd.

I didn't know you could leave it pressed on the burst variant... |

Yeah the lack of kick from any of the games weapons is ridiculous, and the CR just takes it to another level.
TBH that's the only Nerf the thing needs - give it some actual recoil and the fire rate issues will take care of themselves. |

It seems very sporadic for me, sometimes it's like you say then randomly it will go wild and kick like crazy.

Actually check this out
Sometimes I encounter the "Time Stop" glitch where you basically lag so hard you can walk around the entire map while everyone if frozen in place and you have infinite ammo.
I had an AR and a CR.
I held the trigger on the AR and let it go to town. In 10 seconds of continuous fire the thing was kicking so hard that the gun was pointing straight up just about and my arms were waving side to side across my screen faster than my screen was moving.
The CR with infinite ammo and trigger spam as fast as I could (and as rythmically) was fairly accurate at hipfire.
This is known and I will let CCP decide what to do rather than let the masses further judge my opinions.

Basically the standard CR variant encourages you to "feather' the trigger which causes it to have much less kick. You can achieve this effect with any of the rifles in game, but by its vary nature the CR encourages this as opposed to full auto rifles. If you want to see the CR kick you have to use the assault variant.

When you pull the trigger very fast the CR has a very noticable kick. Often I start aiming at people's gut and end up hitting their head after 2-3 shots.
