So, I've been an active DUSTer since the open beta. I've been in and out of corporations, won and lost districts for somebody, and now I'd like to do it on my own... I wish to create a corporation! *Thunder crackle*
I've tried a few times in the past, but I have never been able to get people to join. It always plays out like this. Me: "Hey, I see you don't have a corporation, interested in joining one?" Guy: "Sure, how many people do you have?" Me: "Er, one." -Silence-
How am I supposed to break that barrier. How does one get people to join to raise the numbers, when nobody will join because of the numbers?

Here are some ideas...
1. Give your corp a "raison d'+Žtre"/mission statement that will apeal to a subset of the DUST community. This should reflect what you want to achieve with your corp. For instance if it were me, I might make a 40 year old+ corp (I would call this one something lke "The Cougars").
2. Prepare an email / text dscribing what your CORP is about and what type of players you are looking for. You should then post this in a thread in the appropriate forum on this site. You should also send it as an in-game email to your new corp members.
3. Try to create the copr with a small group of friends. This will help your initial numbers and you are likely to need additional directors to help you administer the corp.
4. Run public squads and recruit while you play. This is pretty obvious...
Hope this helps. Good luck

This is always problematic when creating a new corp. I recommend getting some friends together before starting a corp. That way, you can take your newbie in a squad, have a good time, and glaze over exactly how few members you have.

He isn't shitting you either. That one word "Funsies" , is a curse to me, but also put together a solid 40+ member dust corp and now primarily EVE based alliance.......

You have to give incentive for people to want to join a corp.
Start by getting some friends together and come up with some short term and long term goals. Appoint a couple as directors, even one other director shows a potential recruit some structure.
Short term goals should be reachable and realistic, ie; in one month try to boost your corp members by 10 reliable members who are on all the time and share the same ideas.
Try raising 100mil in a month.
Long term could be to have one director for every ten members if recruiting is going well. Running two full squads at your corps prime time. A possible training program and fundraisers that benefit your players with awards.
And maybe eventually enter into PC.

Send a mail to me in game or look for me this weekend in Dead Six Chat. One of the biggest hurtles to get over is figuring out how you want your community to operate. If you're interested as well, I'd extend an invitation to join our alliance so you can get a feel for how some of the other corps actually work.
