Hey you guys. Is it possible for someone to kind of walk me through this whole corporation thing. I absolutely love this game, but it's a little hard to find certain things within the interface! I'd like to know how to acquire a district; Meaning where in the marketplace do I buy the clone packs? How do I get orbit support; Also where would I find that in the marketplace? Thanks in advance for your answers and responses! Oh I would also like to know If I have to do anything else, beside create the corporation, to become CEO? |

To buy clone packs:
Go to the star map and select a district in Molden Heath involved in PC. It will give you a pop-up asking if you want to buy a clone pack and attack.
To get orbital support:
In PC or FW the only ways to get orbital strikes is to have an EVE player orbiting the district manually firing when asked by you.
In PC they have to be in your Corporation. In FW they have to be in your militia.
Is that everything?
Who says you can't kill in style?

Is it possible for me to get orbital support on PS3? And what is EVE? Is that only playable on PC? Do I need to have an EVE game to have someone orbit? |

It is possible for a squad, or individual to earn orbital support on Public Matches by getting 2500 war points. You need EVE support to obtain orbitals in Factional Warfare (FW-One of the Game modes available). EVE is a PC only game. At the moment Planetary Conquest is closed for Business so you can not acquire a district. If you need help feel free to chat with some of my corpies at "Friends of the Helghast" or message me in game. I will be on tonight at 8pm central under this character. I'd be happy to help you out.

Sheeba Milli'on wrote:If I have to do anything else, beside create the corporation, to become CEO? You'll need at least the first of the corporation skills, which determines your corp size. You can start a corp(thus being CEO) whenever you have this skill. BUT...much more importantly....WHY do you want to create a corp? New Eden is a dark and tough place. If you have the wrong reasons for being CEO or creating a corp, you'll burn out quickly and/or have a complete failure of a corp. Moreso if you're going into controlling districts. (Maybe not now, with all the locking, but in the future.)
Sheeba Milli'on wrote:And what is EVE? Is that only playable on PC? If you don't know much about Eve Online, I suggest you look it up and do some reading. You are technically in Eve right now, though a lot of people say "Eve" when they really mean "Eve Online". What you are playing now is "Eve DUST514", not just "DUST". This relationship will have an effect on this game's development. But quickly--Eve Online is a PC MMO which went live in 2003. In it players play spaceship pilots who's consciousnesseses are backup up into clones. The game has a steep learning curve(cliff), open pvp, solar systems controllable by larger player organizations (alliances--groups of corporations), and is rife with space scum.
Sheeba Milli'on wrote:Do I need to have an EVE game to have someone orbit? YOU don't, but someone needs to. You don't get anywhere 'large-scale' in New Eden (the universe Eve games are in) by yourself. At least, one shouldn't be able to, IMO.

Do you mean you joined someone else's corporation or you started your own? If you are new to corporations, the most important piece of advice I can think to give you is Slow Down! I feel you really need to get an understanding of the culture, not just know the mechanics, before you go diving in headfirst.

Your corporation needs a purpose. I didn't necessarily intend for you to answer my previous question as to why you built a corporation when I asked it, but it's becoming more relevant now. Why did you start a corporation? What is your goal?
I just read today that Eve Dust514 does not yet have the mechanics for alliances, so there is no way to start one from here. The only way into an alliance as it stands today is to be invited by the leaders of an alliance from the Eve Online side of things. Maybe this doesn't need to be said, but this means (1) They'll have to know you, (2) They'll have to trust you, and (3) They'll have to have a reason why your corporation would be a good fit for their alliance.

You wanting an empire is not a reason anyone will care to join your corp, and certainly will not get you into anyone's alliance.

but you won't own the district. The corporation does. And it takes a corporation--both mechanically and in population--to take and hold a district. You'll need many people to do this, and unless you are a cult leader personality and can convince people to drink poisoned kool-aid, folks are spending their isk and showing up at specific defense times to get you a district.
I highly suggest doing some more reading on Eve Online.

actually, I have a better idea, or at least it's more direct. Go down and read the recruitment threads here in the forums. That will give you an idea of the possible cultures and/or goals corporations are built on.

just know that owning a district is rather anti-climatic. you change the color on a star map . i had my corp run into the ground by bad directors who were enthusiastic about PC. if you plan on being a CEO you need to do it with an iron fist and anyone who is not on your same page as you needs to be immediately dealt with. also any malcontent in your ranks must be dealt with as they can create more malcontents. if you say "no we're not doing PC yet" you need to eliminate everyone who is not in alignment with your decision. if someone's getting an ego trip as a director you need to put them in check. being a CEO is much drama it's not as fun as ppl think.

I've seen this it works to some degree, better to build up a community like corporation if you're going to keep it small 20-40 active members around the clock.
