Here below is my final feedback before I go on an extended break from Dust. To put it in perspective: I'm a vet since closed beta that capped out every week for a close to a year fully boosted. That being said I've had huge faith in this game and liked it allot. Recently however I've grown tired and lost faith in the game designer's ability to create a fun and balanced experience. Below are the biggest reasons for my break.
Tl;Dr: A vet leaving final feedback before going on an extended break. Militia tanks are OP, infantry AV lackluster, PC lag still an issue, and skilling to prototype suits take too much grind.
The feedback Just finished reading the early Equipment Stats posted by CCP. I have huge respect for the guys to release them in a timely manner for discussions. Although the stats are obviously not final it is pretty clear the Dust game designers intend to nerf equipment in general. I concluded in my feedback in that thread that certain equipments needed some changes to fix long standing problems (uplink/hive spam, and many other things we've been saying for a long time) but none of those issues were addressed. Instead equipment seemed to receive a general nerf with no rationale given.
Infantry AV is in a laughable and dysfunctional state. It's so bad that a fully decked out proto infantry (+200K ISK) has a major problem even taking out a militia tank (that costs about 100K ISK). The only way to destroy tanks today is by calling in a tank yourself. Ambush matches are now mostly determined which side manages to establish tank dominance in the first 2 minutes of the game. Related to that, militia tanks are way too powerful considering how much they cost, they need nerf.
PC lag. I used to play in PC all the time but the lag got to me and I simply cannot stand it any more. Will probably not return back to the game until it has been fixed for good.
Skillpoint sinks. Especially in the dropsuit category. I gave feedback about this back in October in my thread Grinding for prototype suits takes too much time. Currently I got 3 suits at proto level. I for the live of me do not have the patience any more to grind 6-8 weeks to unlock another prototype suit. The way I'd like to see it fixed is either by reduced skill multipliers or introducing the new skills "Logistics", "Sentinel", "Assault", and so on. So effectively it would still take you the effort of 2 months to skill into a prototype role in a suit but the effort to acquire a subsequent prototype suit would require less effort. Let's take logistics as an example: to get to my first prototype logistics should take about 2 months (same amount as today) but acquiring my second prototype logistic suit should require about half of that effort or about 1 month.
Conclusion I'm by no means quitting the game for good, I still have months of Omega Passives queued up waiting for my return. I will probably focusing more on calling in orbitals from EVE. Shout out to all the guys and gals in 3dge of D4rkness, Internal Error (now disbanded), Imperfects, Ancient Exiles, and Team Players. I had allot of fun while it lasted, thanx for all the wonderful times guys! Special shout out to KrhoniqBeast and CHICAGOCUBS4EVER, I've stared at your asses for longer than would care to admit. |
