I prefer the Madrugar as I like having the longer running modules and, despite thinking I would absolutely hate it, the passive armor repairer. The Gunnlogi is better at short engagements while the Madrugar is much more of a long term brawler. But let's look at from a point by point thing:
Gunnlogi:
- 60% Shield Hardeners, about the same as running two Armor Hardeners.
- Much easier to fit as Lows can be used for CPU and PG enhancement.
- Needs less invested SP as Shield Fitting Optimization is not nearly as required as Armor Fitting Optimization.
- Turns faster and sharper.
- Booster is a great emergency button that will nearly completely regenerate your Shields. Combined with a Hardener, it doubles a Tank's health for a single engagement.
- Naturally more resistant to explosives (AV grenades, Swarms, Remote and Proximity Explosives).
- Shields Passively Regenerate which means that you don't need a module like the Madrugar does.
- Missile Turrets are far less of a danger.
- Hit and Run.
Madrugar:
- Armor Hardeners last much longer and have a shorter cooldown.
- Madrugars, even with Plates, move faster than Gunnlogis.
- Armor is more resistant to Blasters than Shields.
- Being Armor based, the ubiquitous Flux Grenades are a non-threat to Madrugars.
- Can fit Damage Mods, Mobile CRU, or Scanner without sacrificing tank.
- Plates give more hit points than Shield Extenders.
- Less modules to keep track of (reversed from what it was in previous patches).
- From personal experience, the Madrugar is safer if the enemy gets the drop on you as you won't take too much, if any, Armor damage by the time you turn Hardeners online. Gunnlogis don't have that extra buffer before eating through their essential health so a Railgun shot or two before Hardeners are online really hurts their EHP.
- Sustained Brawler.
I think they are pretty even overall. I don't avoid too much in my Madrugar. If I see a double hardened Gunnlogi, I just fall back and re-engage after his hardeners are down but mine are still on. I move faster so I can outpace him. If you are dead set on using a more advanced blaster, the biggest CPU/PG hogs, I think a Gunnlogi would be a better choice.
I think being able to use both is important. I have a Gunnlogi fit built for killing a single Tank in a single engagement. I use that when there is something on the field that my Madrugar can't handle, which has only happened a couple of times. Otherwise, I use my Madrugar as it is more dependable. |
