Their range needs to be decreased drastically, these things should be used as a last line of defence, not for sniping Dropships from across the map.
(Seriously, on one of the Skirm / Dom maps you're able to fire directly into the enemie's redline)
And if this change does happen, offer 0 WP for their destruction.

Fully skilled up in rails and with a proto rail and damage mods then yes, redline rail is valid as a form of artillery and very few tankers will do it. When I see three or so tankers on the field and soem have rails then you better believe I go redline rail to deal with them. The redline can make up for lack of numbers and a good team.
The present situation with a mil or standard rail being used by a non tanker is what is BS. These same guys are using the present OP rail mechanic to drive right up and destroy tanks at point blank range in one quick volley, ruining the lore and the idea of the weapon as a long range, low tracking turret.
The turrets should have variable ranges with the proto rail the only one that can reach across three fourths of a map like skim junction. Only with the damage mods should it be able to do significant damage at that falloff (effective) range.

Yeah, I hate Rail Tanks with a passion, something that can kill in 2-3 shots, should overheat, or be forced to reload after firing 3 shots.
Their magazine capacity is far too large, and they can fire off far too many shots before overheating. Reducing their magazine capacity, and increasing their overheat would make them less effective than Blasters and Launchers in CQC enviroments.

Along with the player base and then this whole game's development. The flow of combat in this game is already a joke, being one big merry go round of action. Protostomping already pushes one team right off the map.
I wouldn't mind a dynamic redline that moves forward or back as a team caps objectives. Then you could have a chance to get at a rear attacker but that long range attacker also has a chance to regain some protection to do what he can with that weapon.

I think the OP was referring to Rail Installations not tanks.
But the redline needs fixing altogether; too many campers hide in there; never to come out.

Agree, also some of them can shoot directly on letters or on supply depots and CRU, they should not have sight on them.
1.8 it's so secret that nobody know what will be in it, even after patch notes...

Quit your crying. If it's not rail turrets it will be rail tanks... I hate them also, but call yourself a militia rail tank and destroy them if you don't like them. I have to do it typically before I call in a blaster tank.
CCP fix PC your core game mode
Blah blah blah about locking districts as long as there is frame rate drops
