what would you guys think if nova knives had a ballistic function added to them? pressing L1 or whatever aiming button brings them up for throwing. you throw one at a time, and can charge them for a 3x damage bonus, with R1, or just tap R1 to release them. They would fly about 8 meters and then go on an exponentially lower downward path (similar to a half parabola inverted over the x axis). When the knives miss, they are marked on your mini map and on the ground with a blue glow like that of equipment, and can be picked up and retrieved. If they kill the enemy on the first or second knife, the knives fall where the enemy died. If not, they pop out of the enemy after one second for retreival. When you die, the knives despawn themselves. After throwing one, you must press L1 again and a short animation must occur before the second kinfe can be thrown, the animation duration could be on the order of like .1 seconds, just to prevent spam and keep them balanced. The knives are not a separate variant, but just gain another function. Any other questions and I'd be happy to answer them. Thoughts?
EDIT: also for those of you who like #'s:
max throwing knife damage with no damage mod on a minmitar scout=
200 (ishnoks)*1.15(profV)x1.25(min scout bonus)x3(charge bonus)=862.5 fully charged, and 287.5 with no charge

If the knife is thrown somewhere inaccessible, would you be able to restock at a supply depot

I think i covered that in my OP. The knife is lit up by a blue marker on the radar and screen, until yo uretreive it

If your out of knives to throw, do you get to use your fists? That would be awesome!
Anyway, throwing nova knives sounds great. You'll have a bit longer range of engagement with knives then.

yes, I like this. Too many encounters (mostly knifings gone bad), that would have greatly benefitted from a feature like this. |

I'd prefer it if L1 had like a charge blitz attack with the knives. You stand still for a split second, then you lunge forward at the speed of an LAV with a fuel injector activated for about 5 or so meters. If you need visual help, search up Walloper from Ratchet & Clank.
Maybe my idea isn't the greatest, but I definitely agree that L1 should have done sorry of function to it when it comes to Knives (and Plasma Cannon). |
