I'm not expecting it which is why I'm saving up SP for a new dropsuit but it would very annoying if we do get one and I just ended up sitting on millions of SP I could have used for a month.
Knowing if we had a dropsuit respec wouldn't change anything other than allowing people to start saving SP if there isn't one.

Probably because they haven't made up their mind yet. Can't tell you what they don't know.
Or they are just waiting to tell us so we have less time to rage, and I expect there will be someone complaining about it no matter which way it goes. |

If CCP does decide to give a respec/refund, they aren't going to announce it until they have a set date for 1.8s release and know it will actually contain all the new suits. If they announce a repsec/refund now and some problem occurs that causes some content like the new heavies or something to be delayed, they will either be forced to continue with the respec (angering the people wanting to spec into the new heavies) or delay the respec (angering everyone else who wanted to use the respec).
1.8 can't get here soon enough.

Each item has to be finished, pass performance testing and QA. They may fully intend to deliver all the new suits in 1.8 but run into problems at the last minute and have to pull one or more of them.
That's why patch notes come out so close to release day. They don't know what'll make the cut.

If there is an issue with some of the new suits they would just post pone all of 1.8 which would include the respec, they don't have to give a date for a respec just say it will be a part of 1.8, or say no spec and it wouldn't matter at all.
