That is actually a music video I ripped from YouTube using FireFox Nightly's addons into a QuickTime file which I then later converted into a Bink file which is then simply dragged and dropped into the following folder for Windows 7: C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\cache\CQScreenVideos A player originally found it as a hack in Eve Online, but since the hack wasn't affecting anything major in the client and was actually beneficial to adding variety to the CQ, CCP decided to make it a feature instead by posting a Dev blog on how to do it manually using the BINK IT! tool provided. Since then, the CQ TV has been very lively. Since the PS3 can be accessed via connection to the PC, perhaps we should allow Dust players to do the same thing for their Merc Quarter TV so that we can finally have more than one channel for once in our lives. I'm talking about something you could do by plugging your PS3 to your computer. This is not something you can create an ISK sink for. The process is actually simple and straight forward compared to how complicated you think it is. This could be achieved for Dust 514 if it can be programmed to recognize such a format. As I mentioned earlier, this will definitely add some flavor to the merc quarter TV and make waiting in the MQ a much more pleasant experience. Imagine watching your favorite Frank Zappa or World of Tanks video while waiting to queue up for battle. EDIT: All CCP has to do is allow the file to be recognized and setup the TV to accept the custom video. The rest will be left up to us (the players) to post whatever we wish on the TV as long as we have the tools. It would help integrate new players much more quickly and efficiently. Imagine the console had corp and alliance channels. Recruiting, organization, training videos and any other communication quickly accessible. News feed where New Eden recent events in EVE and DUST are displayed, reinforcing the connection. Daily, weekly records for highest point OB, kill streaks, most ISK lost in a match, highest earnings and anything else you could think of. A classifieds where deals, ringers, property for sale and other black market goodies can be found. Ringers could have a toggle for availability, while having WP, KD, preferred class and suit builds available to see for potential employers. This game desperately needs an internal networking/market system to enhance its strongest but mostly neglected quality, it's integration and vast universe. Something that most new players don't even know exist. "What's New Eden?" Is a question no merc should be asking themselves. It should be obvious through in vast game mechanics and features. The merc quarter TV could primarily be used to provide tips and tricks and other training materials. Many Eve players share files through the cloud service that I think Chribba provides. This third party service provides files that can be shared and this is something that could allow valuable information to be shared to a broad audience. Of course CCP could alternatively provide their own training videos for the TV during every patch, but as you can see the players do a much better job of doing that.
