What are your definitions of having done well in pub matches. My standards are low, but feel free to laugh.
EC-3 Support Logi - No more than 4 deaths, no less than 10 kills, no less than 2500 WP attained
RS-90 Assault - No more than 2 deaths, no less than 15 kills, WP gain is negligible
NT-511 Sniper - No deaths, no less than 15 kills, no less than 800 WP attained
MH-82 Heavy - no more than 3 deaths, no less than 12 kills, no less than 1000 WP attained |

I play the two roles depending on what the team needs. Basically the same standards anyways.

I consider my matches successful when my net profit stayed on the positive side after restocking the lost fits from a match. Everything else is just a bonus.

Non-scout: No less than 2000 WP, no more than 2 deaths, 30+ kills.
Scout: 1000 WP, less than 5 deaths, 15+ kills.

Well as a long time laser user my personal goal is to defend objectives or give covering fire to my squad mates. In terms of deaths no more than 3-5 depending on the map. Wp aren't a concern to me nor are the amount of kills, actually what I like to aim for is the "quality" of the kill. Basically how much damage did i take for the kill, did I take him/ her by surprise? Was I At the correct range? Did I maintain that range? Anybody can call them selves a slayer, but how many people can say they get consistent "clean" kills? How many people actually consider rapid tactics with squadmates? These are the differences between a everyday "slayer" and a true marksman. Those are just my standards that I try to remember when on the battlefield, of course I'm only human and tend to forget myself lol.

As long as I earn at least 100 WP for each time an enemy sees me and keeps track for long enough to fire a shot, and another 50 for each time I die, then I'm happy.
Also, if a failure - even my own - makes me laugh, I ignore my usual rule and all is well.
If the other team has skilled players, I consider myself to be doing well if I manage to kill any of the dangerous people (as defined by me) more than once. |

I don't think your standards are low at all actually they are quite reasonable, put your goals too high and you'll end up disappointing yourself. Put your goals too low and you won't learn new tactics and maneuvers. Its a good thing that you've learned how to pace yourself accordingly, nobody is perfect but we can sure aim for it.

i consider a match a win when my total accrued losses < my end battle payout..as this hardly ever happens unless im using stnd gear and thats why i personally dont feel dust is worth playing..at least not atm 3 proto suits and i rarely use anything other than stnd gear. winning has become such a boring concept in this game for me..pretty much i deploy and try and gain some wp without dying then i afk..because i mean whats the point in going all out? (hint there is none if you dont care about stats)

for me it's....
1) As a Sniper...
Snipe anyone standing still...
Snipe anyone running...
Snipe other Snipers in the head...
Blow up anything I can...people, tanks, installations, anything....
Hack the CRU closest to the enemy redline...that way if my team gets "A" we are that much closer to redlining them...(Dom)
Kill anyone I recognize from the Forums...
2) As a Logi...
Rep my team...
3) As a Heavy...
Kill everything...
if I do those things it's usually a really good game...
