I was wondering about something and I think I want to make a new character based on someone being Agile, Quick, and has a way of defending himself in most ranges. I'll even settle with close range shotgun or assault rifles if its possible. I'm not really sure what to choose in terms of DropSuits. I hear people saying that Minmatars dropsuits are better for speed, then I also see a lot of people using Gallente drop suits instead.
If someone wants to be a quick, agile, stealthy killer would you recommend a Minmatar light or a Gallente light? I'm aware that skills do matter as well, which I'll be sure to get educated on that soon, but I really just wasn't sure about the dropsuits for this type of class.
if anyone is willing to let me know, let me know!
Oh also... would this class be able to what I just stated above but also be great to fit for faster hacking? Or is that just best left for Logistic drop suits? |

I run the miny scout and Love it.
Seeing that they are supposed to be taking the hacking bonus AWAY from logi and giving them to Scouts, well.... consider that in your pick as well

I'm sorry man, excuse my ignorance. I don't know the abbreviations to all these things.

If you haven't already, make your new alt now but wait until the patch hits before you choose a scout as nothing is ever set in stone before it actually is, but read over the proposed changes anyway and get an idea of which each class will be geared towards and can achieve with their slot layouts.
The hacking bonus is currently slated to be moved over to Minmatar scouts though, so if you really value hacking speed bonus that's what you'd likely go for. Also, I believe according to released stats, all scouts hack faster than suits of other frames as they have a modifier (although some beat others).
With the stated decrease in scan profiles of scouts, it should work out that all scouts can avoid proto scanners (non focused) if they use one proto dampener. (35*.75 = 26.25).
Personally, if I wanted to cover many engagement ranges, I would not choose a shotgun. Although you can make up for it's long distance disadvantages with a sidearm, it only pushes your range so far. But one argument is that if you're that far, you shouldn't be engaging anyway.
Currently, I like using a rifle and nova knives with RE. Rifles can pick up unaware opponents without needing to chase while NKs are for circumstantial kills benefited from stealth/detection. RE's can bait although I usually use it to trap objectives.
Also, RR means Rail Rifle while ScR means Scrambler Rifle. |

Sorry it was my ignorance, should've known.
Ok ScR = Scrambler Rifle. It has the second most range of the rifles and has a charge feature which allows it to inflict a lot of damage in one shot. You can OHK some suits with the charge.
RR = Rail Rifle. It has the longest range of rifles and is a machine gun (ratatatat) but has a negligible charge up time which is different from the ScR. This charge up does not effect the damage it just requires you to charge before firing. You just hold the trigger and there is a .25 second delay (it's small) before you start unleashing long range (75 meter optimal range) automatic fire.
Right now RR is commonly considered OP and there is a massive debate on it.

The combat rifle has easy fitting requirements which help when fitting a scout. The racial weapons are designed around their racial suit counterparts. The scrambler rifle also does overheat damage to the user which is bad on scouts. The combat rifle suffers from the second shortest range of the frontline rifles though.

Gal (girl lol) scout can tank and be speedy but not at the same time.
Min (minute lol) scout can tank and be speedy but less than gal.
I went with gal for the speed but min seems pretty great for the shield tank...

The Gallente Scout isn't as fast as the Minmatar Scout but it is an extremely good passive scanning platform.
Passive scanning allows you to permanently see all enemies through walls within a certain distance. This distance is greatly increased for Gallente Scouts suits through it's dropsuit command skill. Add some enhanced or complex range amplification modules and you can see enemies through walls at well over 50 meters. This can be utilized very well to prey on unsuspecting enemies. They don't get a message on their screen that they've been scanned, they won't see you coming.
By advised though that other Scouts will not be picked up by the passive scanning, so some care has to be taken.
When the Minmatar Scout is like being a fast but fragile cheetah then the Gallente Scout is rather more like a leopard.
Edit: Notice that the Gallente Scout can also be fitted to be almost as fast (and fragile) as the Minmatar Scout or alternatively achieve respectable durability for a Scout suit. So you can absolutely choose your own playstyle. |

th gallente scout is better in every single way, except that minmitars in 1.8 can be the fastest suit in the game with really high shield hp so you may want to consider that...but currently if you wanna be a stealth scout instead of a speed tanker like me go gallente

Really I would wait till they alter the suits and we can see where the chips fall.
As for now I run both as I like the benefits that each suit can give. I mostly run the Min right now because of the the current event involving nova knifes, and even after this event I will continue to use it the most.
The type of suit you use reflects a play style and what you are trying to do. I need damage/speed/stealth for my nova knife so I go Min. with it's extra high slots so I can put a sidearm damage mod and a SMG to work the full benefits of the nova knife-suit combo.
This is not to say that you couldn't do all this or even do it better with a Gal Scout but I use it for the quieter missions (Domination or Skirmish) because people spam scanners and I need to be a ghost to: get around enemy lines, drop an uplink, hack a point, and escape to repeat.
Now I like speed... lots of speed when I run a scout and I have run the Proto Gal with 4X Complex Kinetic Catalyzer (the speed buff) and tried it out. With all the rifles in the game and the weakness that is the signature of a scout even all the speed you can muster still won't be enough so you will have to make other plans. Tank or stealth or Intel or Alpha Damage, whatever you plan on doing you can include speed but don't count on using just speed. |

For Assassination? I use the Minmatar Scout. Try this build. :D
MLT Minmatar Medium Frame STD Submachine Gun STD Nova Knives (Or Advanced, if you have them *highly suggested*) MLT Kinetic Catalyzer STD Profile Dampener (Same deal with Knives) Stable Drop Uplink MLT Sidearm Damage Mod
You can drop the Stable Uplink for something else, if you'd like, and if you have the spare CPU/PG. Anything here can be switched out for STD stuff, because STD has less CPU/PG requirements.
