The AR, long the god of Dust, formally the easy mode of all infantry weapons, has been brought low. First I had feelings of crapulence over this and wallowed with joy in the AR's suffering. But the AR honestly has been emasculated. So, it needs to be fixed.
The fix I have in mind however in not just a huge DPS boost for the regular AR, my fix involves all incarnations of the AR, its strength should be in its diversity primarily.
The AR's current stats are
AR STD 34 DMG .08 ROF 425 DPS 40 Optimal Range 65 Max Range ADV 35.7 DMG .08 ROF 446 DPS 44 Optimal Range 72 Max Range PRO 37.4 DMG .08 ROF 467.5 DPS 48 Optimal Range 78 Max Range

The first fix is making the AR the King of Assault variant rifles. We do this with increasing DPS, specifically damage per shot. The current DPS Assault Rifle variant king (with a slight margin over the AR) is the Assault Rail Rifle with 450 DPS at advanced and 471.9 DPS at Prototype. The other rifle Assaut Variants also are close to theAR's DPS AND have more range. The AR is a limited range weapon compared to all other Assault variants, it need to be the DPS king here, solution?
Well the Prototype HMG has a DPS of 700, the AR Prototype can due with its DPS boosted to 500. So unlike the Assault Combat Rifle where ROF increases the DPS, damage per round will increase DPS here. So keep the same ROF and increase the damage to 37 at standard, 38.5 at advanced, and 40 at prototype. Everything else keep it the same. So the new stats?
AR STD 37 DMG .08 ROF 462.5 DPS 40 Optimal Range 65 Max Range ADV 38.5 DMG .08 ROF 481.25 DPS 44 Optimal Range 72 Max Range PRO 40 DMG .08 ROF 500 DPS 48 Optimal Range 78 Max Range
Regular AR fixed, nowt o fix the other variants.
Breach: The prototype Rail Rifle has a DPS of 465, the Breach AR ain't getting that much. 374 DPS however is way too low to be useful. The prototype Breach AR should have a DPS of around 430, so the ROF should be changed to .13. The question now is, what is the reason to use the Breach AR over the regular one? The Breach will have an increase range slightly 44 optimal and 68 max range for standard, 48 optimal and 75 max range for advanced, and 52 optimal range and 81 max range for prototype. Everything else the same on this rifle. So the new stats:
Breach AR STD 51 DMG .13 ROF 392.3 DPS 44 Optimal Range 68 Max Range ADV 53.55 DMG .13 ROF 411.9 DPS 48 Optimal Range 75 Max Range PRO 56.1 DMG .13 ROF 431.5 DPS 52 Optimal Range 81 Max Range
Now the TAC. It needs a serious range buff, everything else is fine. Advanced should e 60 Optimal range and 83 max, prototype should be 65 optimal range and 90 max. This out ranges the combat rifle and has the same max range as the assault scrambler rifle. This range boost gives it a boost to AR users looking for some range but prevents it from out shining the range of the regular scrambler rifle and the rail rifles. The new stats:
TAC AR ADV 74.97 DMG .15 ROF 499.8 DPS 60 Optimal Range 83 Max Range PRO 78.54 DMG .15 ROF 523,6 DPS 65 Optimal Range 90 Max Range
The Burst AR? Really it needs nothing... maybe a slightly better hip fire... I think this gun is a hidden treasure personally....
So there, that is how I would fix ARs.
A would be logi looking for heavies in all the wrong places.

Nerf the other rifles instead. The AR was OP even before 1.7, we need to decrease the amount of rifles on the field, they're overwhelming, and quite imbalanced.

I have to agree tha the new rifles (including the improves SCR) need to be toned down. If this affects the amount of rifles is questionable as Rifles are the aesiest to use weapons and neraly every one is somewhat famlliar with them from other shooters. But we need to give the other so called niche weapons some place to live.
Right now there is no reason to use them other than going the hard way and thrill. |

DPS should be higher than 500, are gets a 7% boost in DPS and RR gets double the range seems legit. In reality it's DPS shouldn't be increased but every other weapons DPS should be decreased.
Armor and Shields are not the same!

NO. NO. AND DAMN ******* HELL NO.
Stop asking Weapons Buff because a small group of weapon is totally OP. Instead of buffing ALL THE WEAPONS OE BY ONE. Nerf the Small group instead. AR included.
All rifles need 10% less damage OR No proficiency. CR deserve a Major Nerf and Rework by the way it's supposed to work. ACR need a major nerf and rework. RR need a bigger spool time 0.25 is NOTHING. ARR need a rework. SCR need more recoil and a lower Mag. ASCR need a RoF reduction. AR need Higher relaod and higher dispersion BUT with a better RoF. AR variants just need the 10% less damage.
RR : 0.75 Spool time instead of 0.25. ARR : Less RoF than RR but no spool time.
SCR : More recoil and Lower mag (45=>30) and charged shots should consume 5 Ammo. ASCR : Lower RoF (-75) bigger heat build up.
AR : More recoil but more RoF (Better DPS at close range.)
Rebalance Minmatarr weapon to be -5%/+5% (shield/armor) instead of -5%/+10% (WTF??????) CR : Less Range less accuracy and more dispersion and 1 sec between each burst. ACR : More dispersion less accuracy less RoF.
CR is supposed to be SUPER easy to fit and actually it is BUT against a poor accuracy. In fact it's DAMN accurate no dispersion. So they takes the advantages but no the drawbacks........
