Say what you want about red-line sniping; argue it all day if you want and I'll just respond with this
Here's what real snipers do.
Admittedly, my mic volume is a little low but I do call out troop positions frequently throughout the video. Be sure to watch the entire video before making some silly comment.

Wasn't an appeal to realism - was detracting from the "redline sniper" argument everyone seems to brandish as of late.
Edit: But I'll edit the wording so this isn't misunderstood again.

It was difficult hearing you. I know you know this, but your argument is most important to hear instead of your squadmates who brought up forum rebuttals to snipers in a condescending way. I really wanted to hear what you said, but the most I would get was a "yea" or a "tank approaching southwest"
Maybe a video of what a "real" sniper does should be filmed first and then your squadmates engage you with questions that you answer with the video providing visual evidence into what makes a good sniper on Dust, or in this case, a real sniper.
Thanks for the counter argument and I hope you provide more videos soon with a better mic.

Yeh, PS3's encryptions on the HDMI prevent voice from being recorded on my end so I have to use an external in-ear mic which just happens to be recording my voice beneath my headset (lawl). I found a way to get some boost out of it later on in another video so, definitely helps.
I'll gladly answer any questions presented but this video was mostly made in a sort of retaliatory way after hearing some of the community's stand-points on sniping in that it "shouldn't be in the game" or "should have range significantly nerfed".
Just saying, not everyone is a redline sniper and assuming all snipers to be the long-range kill whores of Dust 514 is an insult to snipers in general. Providing troop movements early on so that your squad/team can counter long before entering scanner range is one of the key aspects to being a good sniper but also keeping those squad-mates alive is another big part. I have another video in which I save a squad-mate on two occasions, each within a minute. A lot of times a player will actually appear to be doing very well but only with the helping hand of a sniper.
I dislike the general direction that we've been going with them, though. There are game design issues that I think need to be ironed out rather than simply "make map sniper proof" and a big problem the snipers of the Dust 514 community commonly bring up is the dwindling of good spots with which to snipe from.

I would say the bad snipers are insulting the good ones. In your video, you changed positions, called out locations, and provided help to the team...the very few things that most snipers do today in game.
It's almost a catch twenty two. The maps that are being created are more indoor maps than large outside maps which in turn is changing the effectiveness of snipers as a whole. It's to the point where on most maps, snipers are purely situational.
I have voiced my displeasure about the bad snipers before but make no mistake, I commend good snipers out there who are true to their roles.

I'm largely against the new map designs and CCP newly established "rules" as far as what snipers can do in a battle. The aspect of Redline sniping is a consequence of poor game mechanics; not a bad map or the playstyle itself. A sniper is intended to be a force multiplier but whenever maps start getting flattened out (much like the one in this video) it never ends up being creative, interesting or entertaining; it just feels forced.
Bear in mind that because of the randomized sockets I was able to utilize the map the way I did here. If the large socket were not Caldari Biomass and the small socket were not the one part of the Consolidation Matrix set, I wouldn't have been able to go about that match the way I did and would have, instead, had to use the big open flat (and boring) landscape that doesn't allow a sniper to -BE- the force multiplier that he's intended to be.
Even still I'm a firm believer that adding scope sway when crouched would eliminate a lot of the problems as it makes the playstyle more skill based, not that it needs to be considering how jerky the controls are and the aspect of "shooting at pixels" xD
Edit: A player in my squad put it the best way I've heard yet; the changes to the maps were done out of an emotional response by players who were being killed, not because there was any necessity toward it (though some would argue that). It's like AV vs Tanks; everyone hates tanks but no-one wants to drop what they're doing to pick up the Swarm Launcher. Same thing with snipers.

Responding to your edit: That is the glaring problem with many things. The resounding voice of the community can change the game and it's frightening since the majority of the community don't view things objectively. They only think of the immediate and personal experience. Not what affects the game as a whole and the repercussions of those choices.
