Hi, I guess you could say I'm new to the community. I have gotten most of the "core skills" to the point I can fit what I choose on my suits (Gal assault std.). I recently started fiddling around in a Militia Gal scout, and it was pretty fun. I do however get scanned quite a bit and I don't always see people sneaking up on me in my minimap, so I was looking at skilling into profile dampening and precision enhancement. I was wondering which would be better to go into first?
Precision enhancement will help me see the enemies a bit better but is it noticeable? Especially when looking for scouts.
I'm told profile dampening will only help me get past std. scanners without equipping one, but if I was to train into scout what lvl of scanners could I get past at 5?
I still intend to go Gal scout regardless of which of which order I skill them up in. I was wondering though if there was a particular order that is recommended?
For example should I get profile and precision before skilling scout? Or should I get the scout suit and risk being caught by scanners all the time? |

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a one-size-fits all answer to your question. Which to skill into first really depends on what problem you think is bigger -- not seeing others or not being seen. Kind of like the decision between getting a better weapon or more HP -- depends on what your particular challenge is. Hope this helps...Leadfoot
p.s. FWIW, I did dampening first and use dampners on a few "sneaky" suits I use to evade scanners....mostly because I am a carry a scanner religiously and don't use passive scanning much (which is what the core skills help). I'm also a medium suit runner (caldari logi and assault), and I could easily envision that being different for scouts who rely more on passive scanning and the inherent dampening received when skilling into those suits. |

What he said ^^
I just started dabbling in scouts myself again (I'll admit it, mostly just for the event) but it was so fun, I decided to keep going. I've been tiering them evenly. Meaning I would get lvl 1 in both, then lvl 3. That being said, they are both useful in different situations. I like the dampener more personally because I see the result of it easiest. I'm missed by many a scanner.
However, I've only been saved a few times by the precision enhancement. Mostly because of the scouts out there, I'm not running into many "newer' scouts like me. So they are all the way at lvl 5 and I don't pick up a thing. Versus the very few times I've had an assault stumble close to me. However, by trying to be a better scout, I tend to be away from normal foot traffic areas. I'm not YoJollyRoger so I have to protect my skinny butt at all times. I tend to be planting REs and escaping around corners until I can catch someone's unawares.
That being said. As a shy, and not very successful scout so far, I found dampeners had the most immediate impact for me.

I run Miny Scouts and one of the first things I did was train all the scanning skills , (the passive ones ) to level3. Worked wonders. I am now at level 4 on those skills and there Is a GREAT improvement. That 415k jump to level 5's is on the back burner atm though.
What I did was trained ALL my core skills that would reduce cpu usage to level 5. That made it easy for me to fit a great varity of equip/weapons/mods on CHEAP SUITS.
Of course I speced into 2 weapons. SMG at lvl 5 and pro 3 and and Shot Guns to level 5 with pro 3. I Always carry knives.
Sad to say I only have an AR skilled and that JUST got to lvl 3 this past week.
This has been a LONG road BUT I can now run a lot of different suits with different fits to get into something Cheap that can work in almost any situation.
I do carry on though.
I hope what I have posted will be of help.
See you out there.
