Closed beta vet, still run logi, always play the logi as support (I'm one of the guys who ran the Rep Tool even when it didn't give any WP)
Single equipment bound skill bonuses will be bad practice. If we had racially defined gear that was not simply a single widget but a pallet of them that would be an asset to diversity and game play, however the same method applied to the current lack of content in the equipment line and bound to specific bits of gear rather than a collected racial sub-type, that is degrading to the sandbox (hampers innovation, player choice and creativity), the meta game (no need for spies etc if all you have to do is look at the bright yellow guy to know what he's running), and the addition of new content (how do you balance for the few skill buffed bits of gear when adding new gear? New gear will either be balanced with the base stats of equipment and thus always underpowered compared to the bits will skill buffs, or it will be as good as the buffed gear even without the benefit of the skills and thus overpowered compared to the base stats...)
CPU and PG are finite, and the new skills already on balance nerf logi CPU and PG (yeah, they say "discount" but that doesn't hold up once you account for the fittings values of the skills being removed) and that's even if the suits were 100% unchanged.
Racial specificity as it's done in EVE is an asset, but EVE has the content in game to allow players options and choice even within those specializations, and also keeps many general hulls ready and flying as well. Dust lacks the content for this to be a valid method in the present game state and exacerbates this problem by lacking the stability for players to make informed choices that stay relevant for even a twelve month span. Player choice, and risk vs reward are the life blood of New Eden but if players can't trust even the in game stats to guide their choices regarding where they want to be in eight months, can't craft unique takes on the roles/frames offered and can't tactically specialize (being "specialized" by a restrictive skill buff is not the same as building a fit which synergies with your squad mates and your teams tactical choices), then players cannot realistically/reliably partake of the sandbox or the risk vs reward dynamic and without those central elements Dust pales a very great degree indeed.
