Why some people have a grey square in the top right of there pic.
Sometimes I have it but I have no freaking clue why.....
Plz explain

That's it?....cause like half the people I see with them aren't in my contacts :/
It was tripping me out cause it appears and disappears over my picture too (often within 2 minutes too)

the contact list is screwy(on the forums and in the leaderboards) but yes it's supposed to be your contacts

Aside from your contacts, in EvE they're used to tag other players with a "standing," or how favorably or unfavorably you see other people, corporations, etc.
The grey "equal sign" means they're neutral to you.
Light/Dark blue pluses means they're in good standing.
Orange/Red minuses mean they're unfavorable to you.

From what I have seen, it seems to appear when people are actively/or very recently looking in the thread. But I can't actually say that with certainty.
