So doesn't an increased RoF when applied to a weapon with an overheat mechanic have certain innate drawbacks, such as making the weapon overheat faster? Or a charge mechanic where it doesn't apply at all (does it?) Does that actually work out to be an increase in dps, if so is it still an increase when compared to the current skill? Is this new skill only meant to support burst damage (aside from charge effects)? Does the RoF increase in any way effect the constant stream of the laz0r?
I'm not supremely confident I understand all the mechanics present in these weapons so someone please inform me if there's info otherwise but at first blush it looks like the new Amarr assault skill ranges from mild-nearly useless all the way down to an possible draw back when applied to their racial weapons.... which strikes me as odd.
Can anyone illuminate this for me?

Honestly Cross, the fact that there was so much backlash about the Assault bonuses, paired with the fact that they have yet to 'officially' release the medium frame stats but released all heavy and light frames, leads me to believe that they are reconsidering the assault bonuses.

Cheers, Cross From what I can tell the rof buff from the assault skill is great for the LR as it's overheat is from time fired not shots fired. Also LR dmg increase is based off of shots fired in a row so again the rof buff is good for the LR. ScR how ever gets no benefit though.

Seems to me like they should just give all Assaults the current Gallente Assault's bonus and then give each Assault suit a bonus to it's respective racial weapon (Basically, just keep the Amarr Assault bonus the same).

Interesting, that's a function of the LRs mechanics that I didn't fully understand, thank you for the info A bit odd that one of two weapons (from the race) would get no buff from the racial skill, but maybe the assault version of the ScR would at least pick up some better burst damage this way?

Well of course it's all speculation so take it with a spoon of salt, but I think you get the idea.
Someone brought up the idea of giving the Assaults a reduction to light weapon cost (much like the logistic's gear cost reduction) to a dev and they seemed to rather like the idea, so I would not be surprised if it ends up being something like that for the flat bonus and then a race specific weapon skill to boost damage/effectiveness.

Okay, now that that's done, I would love to see an iteration as you describe above making it's way into the mix. Giving the assault suit role bonus something that directly supports it's assaulting role would be grand, and adding racial skills which give flavor to the choice of suit that extends beyond the CPU/PG allotment or slot layout would add something satisfying to the selection of an assault suit (at least for my tastes).
If any CPM (current or future ) happens to be watching this thread (or a Dev for that matter) consider this a +1 to the above method outlined by Pokey Dravon.
