It's obvious that a player market is needed in order to make the most of the salvage, but with the high amount of militia equipment and the high frequency of people using starter fits it's unlikely anyone will buy most of the salvage we get.
The rate at which standing is gained seems reasonable. I've been running almost exclusively Gallente (stuck on 8 for awhile) and Minmatar (just reached 6) and I've only run Amarr and Caldari a total of 5 times. The problem is that loyalty and standing is such a small factor. Without a market or serious drawback to playing for both sides there is little reason to build loyalty. On top of that the payout for higher loyalty is only a little more than the base payment.
Also the lack of any standing boost or adequate reward of anything outside salvage for a loss means that after a point matches become completely one sided, many times it's within the first minute.
So about the boosters. They are very reasonably priced but even that isn't enough to make them worthwhile. The extra LP at higher levels is so low compared to the matches needed to gain standing that playing for multiple factions has no real drawbacks. On top of that the LP payout itself makes the rewards increase from the booster marginal. Now the price for the booster seems fair for the benefit but they could be far more lucrative if the rewards for loyalty were much higher and more importantly the penalties for disloyalty as well.
So I propose a few things to make it not only more lucrative but also fun.
Team deploy Team deploy Team deploy. Make a place outside of PC for corps to run together against other corps without Q syncing. This is the most important addition needed from a gameplay standpoint.
Open market and/or player trading, so loyalty to one faction still yields profit and the opportunity to gain other races gear. This would take away an incentive to switch sides. Probably the most important addition from an economic standpoint.
Increase payout for loyatly so it's exponential and not linear. It doesn't need to be as drastic a factor, but if someone sticks to one race for 6 months they should get more than just twice the LP of someone starting out as it is now. They are still restricted to using one races gear. Loyalty should be rewarded. This makes the booster more lucrative. There still would be no ISK payout, but current LP to ISK conversion is terrible and the LP payout needs to be increased at least at higher standings.
Increase penalty against opposing faction standing. Now it's 75/15 for the friendly faction win versus opponent penalty. If it was 75/50 or even 75/30 it would make it impractical to run multiple factions and reap the rewards of loyalty in increased LP. This also makes the boosters more lucrative.
Negative standings are needed. A negative standing penalty could have a drastic reduction in LP payout even for victory. Without negative standing people can just max out one race and then max out the other and still maintain high standings with both. A low enough standing may even bar someone from fighting for a faction without a booster or a squad leader with proper loyalty. This also makes FF from people not dedicated to one or two races a bigger hit.
Higher payout for a loss than currently, but still low. Half the payout is fine, it won't recoup all losses but it will make staying in worth something. There also needs to be standing increase 15/5 or 25/10 for the losing side so those who fight on despite trouble are still recognized.
Allow EVE pilots to be notified more quickly of a fights location, or even a possible fights location. There is no reason why the 5 minutes searching for battle the server can't already have a place in mind and relay that to the pilot so they can arrive on time. Make it easier for the pilots and you'll see more of them helping out.
Ideally these changes would keep people loyal to only one or two races, make boosters more popular, and make the rewards worth the risk, even if a loss is likely. The casual player can still play around all the factions, but they will lose the opportunity to gain the higher rewards for loyalty.
Where is my Gallente sidearm? 1.8? When is that? SoonGäó514
