Are we getting pilot suits as well? We have all these other suits can we get some for us DS pilots? Driver suits for tanks and LAVs.

Wait for some semblance of balance first, or else pilot suits will be assumed when balancing and you will be forced to buy and wear one to get a decent level of performance out of your vehicle. |

Since all four races light frames will be released, that means if they added pilot suits they'd have all four races. You can't do that until you have all four races vehicles and turrets first, however, since the bonuses would likely be aimed at those particular systems.

Pilot suits are going to be strange because the two most likely outcomes are terrible and the third isn't great.
1. Vehicles are good/decent without Pilot suits are just flat out better with Pilot suits. Basically, it gives a buff to something that doesn't need a buff.
2. Vehicles are only good/decent with Pilot Suits. This means that CCP effectively split the bonuses from vehicles and put them on Pilot Suits. The basic thing becomes "so in order for my Tank to be up to par with AV, I have to put points in 4 different areas rather than 3?" Works as a flat out SP Sink.
3. The SP Cost to Benefit makes it not worth it. "Why should I spend 2.7 Million Skill Points to increase the distance at which the Tank's mine detector starts to beep by 20%?"
Unless you do it as something that is hard to see as just being more better (so not Resistances or DPS), it is going to be unfair one way or another. Maybe something like higher acceleration or faster turn radius but even then it still has the problem of being an SP Sink for a benefit that might not be that great. Basically, you need to make something that doesn't just make a Vehicle too powerful (Problem #1), something that only starts to make a Vehicle powerful (Problem #2), but something that is actually worth dropping SP into (Problem #3). There isn't a whole lot of overlap in that 3 ringed Venn Diagram. |

personally I would like them to simply make a placeholder with no skills for each race.
I couldn't stand trying to build up my heavy without being able to invest in a generic suit to help battle in the meantime and I didn't want to assume the skill tree would be refunded and then risk disappointment.
But yes I agree - They need to balance the vehicle mechanics first, add the rest of the races and only then introduce the suit.
As for a bonus that isn't vehicle related that could be incorporated into the suit, how about different vision modes? You could even make it so only the higher suits have access to certain vision modes - giving you a reason to actually use the proto suit and not just a basic with all the passive skills of the proto.
But I digress.

I would sink the 3 mil to proto a pilot suit even if it wouldn't have skills for 3 months.
I would like to stop looking like a scrub in warbarge.
At least I have the recruiter suit. A tiny bit of cool ness. |
