As it currently stands the Assault HMG has the same cone of fire as the normal and burst variants. Since the Assault HMG has a longer range I think it should have tighter cone of fire so that it is more accurate at hitting targets at a distance. The Assault HMG is probably the least effective and least used of the HMGs and I think that this change would make it more effective at fulfilling its role.
I'm not sure exactly how much tighter it needs to be to be in a good place, but a 25% tighter cone of fire sounds good in my head.

I Agree with you as a heavy, but maybe just 10% smaller, I like using the assault HMG to mow down crowds from upper floors or platforms. Also it is very effective in my opinion for 2 or 3-1 fights

I feel like I'm betraying my own kind when I say this, but I love using the Assault HMG's extra range against another Heavy who isn't using one. They seem so helpless as I melt their shields and armor while their bullets just tickle me roughly.
