Ok iv been watching a story style threads progress and i really do think its AWSOME some of stuff thats starting to happen now bbbuuuuttt their is bit of clash between new people jumping into it the first time vs the old guys who just want to get on with it and are getting frustrated, so iv come up with these ground rules to help anyone New to Rping not **** everyone off and help stop threads descending into chaos.
A. never ever take control of someone else character unless its been agreed what the out come will be. That includes having him read something you hand. the limit is going "you offer steadyhand a note" its then my choice if I want to take it or ignore you
B. follow the thread of the story don't make it all about how awesome your character is, you can have your own moments in it see my small posts dotted about. but walking around like your gods gift to everything is not only hard to work with its boring and anoyyes the crap out of anyone trying to do character development or progress a story New Eden is all about overcoming challenges so make sure your character gets challenged.
C. NO GOD TIMEING EVER, what this means is your character has flaws, he cant do things outside of normally clone ability, you can be skilled but you need a reason to that skilled. The safest way to do this is use your ingame skill as a rough guide. you have to be believable for example iv been playing this game well over two years now and i use my own ingame ability to justify that steadyhand is one of the most dangerous mercs you will ever encounter however i still have my limits i cant take on 6 mercs by myself and expect to come out unscathed.
D. Do you homework know the lore know the backstory if you dont have the time then simply make a simple character who is learning the world of new Eden. for example you walk up to True and go "i follow X sub cult of the faith", True (sorry man you make a good example :P) is gunna shoot you in the face repeatedly and then make sure your clone wakes up in a prison. your homework assignment is too work out why.
E. last basic rule DON'T DERAIL A THREAD its dam hard to find GMs who put this much effort in simply put if it happens again I will get the other old times to flag it logibro as disruptive behaviour in order for him to remove your post and get the thread back on track.
does anyone else have anything to add I really want to get a few story threads going the discussions are awsome but its though actions legends are made
