I'm not to clever at wording but thinking about real life, The worse condition something is in, the slower it goes. So why not make a tank as it receives more damage, lose speed so it begins to get harder to escape? Realistically this works out well because tankers can still rely on their hardeners and still have same amount of health for all i care, this would just honestly make tanks have a harder time escaping an AV trap. When they begin to reach critical damage, they would need help to come and cover their escape, instead of being a 1 man army. I honestly am fine with everything else (other then that price should be bumped up some more) and used to tank and always wondered why CCP never did this.

I think part of the problem with vehicles is that they can be down to 1 health point and still perform perfectly. Vehicles should have minor damage induced breakdowns, although I don't expect anyone to stop and try to change a tire on their busted LAV. |

If this includes damage done to shields, that's kind of stupid. If this doesn't include damage done to shields, that's unfair to armor tankers. If this is implemented, I demand that there be a third type of HP, structure HP, which is underneath the armor HP layer. Have damage done to THAT influence performance.

The pile of garbage is more lethal.

no its perfectly fair, because Armor tanks have a high base speed, and high armor, Shield tanks have high acceleration but low top speed, so them taking even a little damage would hurt their speed badly It would only be to armor damage however, but the infrastructure damage would be awesome if they could do that

If its only caused by armor damage, shield HAVs would only be affected when they're near death, but armor HAVs would be affected even while their tank is still going strong. Which is why I said if it was added it should be for structure HP, as that would be the only fair option for both shield and armor tankers.

Sure but only if they implement this for infantry too, as well as a 'critical damage table' for weapons that allows other people to potentially instakill you no matter the location that they shoot at (like the laser rifle would just randomly set people on fire - the chance could get higher as the gun runs hotter), or the ability to shoot limbs off - like arms or legs, or just a large chance for infantry to bleed out or go into shock from any given attack. In addition we could have 'massive damage' where taking more than a certain amount of damage in a small window is just instant death, and really I hear wounds are worse when you have to spend time digging armor fragments out of them.
Oh wait you don't think these would be fair to infantry? Pot meet Kettle.
Perhaps tanks need to be a little slower and cost more, but mechanics that serve only to make it impossible to meaningfully react or only serve to remove choices from players are bad. |

First off does this apply to armour or shields? Or is it based on your overall total hit points as this sort of mechanic could hurt armour tankers more than shield tankers if it is based on armour health only.
Instead of having this as some sort of granular ratio - to make it easy for the devs could we say less that 50% total health = 20% speed reduction, less than 25% total health = 40% speed reduction or something like this?
As a tanker I can get on board with this idea though I would not want the penalty to be too devastating and obviously CCP / the community would have to decide on specifics. |

Uhm, shields use power, right? When you gotta recharge shields it's gonna use power, which is gonna slow **** down. |

Like i Said, not to clever, Just a simple idea i started with, A good solve to all of this would just be a 3rd type of HP for vehicles showing its infrastructure honestly, and Infantry would just need a system where once we get under 50% armor we begin to move slower, and under 25% we just move slower with a limp, no need for complex arms blowing off and stuff, tanks only lose speed/Accel, not guns being disabled or unable to turn your turrents.
I mean heres my original train of thought with more explanation, Armor tanks have High total Armor = High top speed, but low Shield = Low acceleration Shield tanks have Low total Armor = Low top speed, but high Shield = High Acceleration
Now to the point, Armor tanks get off to a slowish start but move fast overall after the slow start, As armor tanks lose their shields, it won't hurt their acceleration badly, (fully depleted on shields lowers accel maybe 50% at most, which because its so low already, wouldnt hurt much) So their top speed would still be achievable and could choose to continue to fight, or risk being in a situation where they begin to take punishment from AV making it lower their top speed (once down to 25% of armor you would be at 50% top speed which would be lowest it goes) would need infantry support to cover escape. Also a tanks armor repair would be helping keep up your top speed as you take damage so you wouldn't be completely trapped for long.
Shield tanks would be in a tough situation because their acceleration is what helps them out of a fight, so as they take damage to their shields they will begin to have a harder time accelerating out of a battle, once down to armor, they will be in a situation making it extrodinarily hard to escape, unless they can get a shield booster up to give them their acceleration back to get away, but they still wouldnt be as fast as they could be because of the armor loss lowering their top speed.
All in all, its a mostly fair situation between armor and shields tanks if they put this. Only things i see being a problem are still, as usual, rail tanks, which are built to kill tanks in the first place anyways. but rail tanks will always be a problem until redline is fixed.

oh and forgot to add about how it wouldnt just instantly drop your accel or speed at that amount, it would progressively drop it as you closed in on that amount left.
