Cheers, first post on the forum.

Anyways, I was wondering about if the heavy dropsuit lines would be receiving any significant changes or new weaponry in the upcoming patches. I enjoy playing as a dedicated heavy, however I find it increasingly hard to fight on open-terrain maps because my heavy machine gun immediately starts losing power with range, so it's more like shooting an elephant with a bb gun if I try to shoot at people. I have no problems with the forge gun(consider it a bit OP), but I was wondering if heavies would be getting some medium-ranged heavy weapons in future patches, as opposed to either close CQB with a HMG or seal clubbing with a forge gun.

Heavies should really consider skilling into both Sentinel and Commando because of this reason alone. Yes, it is not one of the easiest cross trainings because it requires up to four different weapons to be skilled (1 Heavy, 2 Light, 1 Side) but it seems definitely worth it. Commandos in this next update can actually tank quite a bit, an Amarr commando with just one complex plate can get 711 armor with two low slots to spare. With the increased weapon damage and reload speed, Commandos work really well in open spaces, but then when the maps get more compact the Sentinel is a better fit.

There is an announced Amarr heavy weapon (most likely mid-range since Amarr use mid-range lasers).
There is also an announced Gallente heavy weapon (most likely close range since gallente use close range blasters)
The Amarr one will likely be what you're waiting for, but I have no clue when it will arrive.

Next patch (mid February-March) will bring 3 new heavy suits (Caldari, Minmatar, and Gallente), so you might be interested in one of those. You can find the stats here. Also new guns are coming in the patch, stats here.

Heavies are going to be Damage sponge monsters after 1.8.
 Keep at it.

The HMG is fantastic 20% of the time on 10% of the maps

Rifles are much better 90% of the time on 100% of the maps.

 Which would you rather have?

Obviously the rifle, but I also enjoy the sheer power of just being able to riddle someone with bullets in less than five seconds.

10% off the whole map usually inside a building by a letter but not the open ones life expectancy decreases unless you are mobile.

Sad but true and you also get the bonus of carrying equipment which can seriously add to your WP each match. Being able to jump over things is also great. I've played a heavy through closed beta and can tell you it is great in so few situations compared to the rifles its no comparison to which is better to use. But in the end the hmg is fun.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard people foaming at the mouth in rage over combat rifles and rail rifles.
