An easy way to help one's team, and getting lots of war points without getting into combat is setting drop uplinks. This crappy guide will cover a technique I found to be very effective for the job. I thought this would be useful for new players that don't excel at combat, but still want to be useful and get points. This is useful for Skirmish and especially Domination (since you can't spawn on the objective). Each time someone spawns on your uplink, you get 25 war points; the more WP you get, the more skill points you get, and a bigger cut of the ISK reward pool you get as well.
This is recommended, but not necessary: Spend skill point to get level 3 of a medium dropsuit skill (in dropsuit command) to unlock a logistics dropsuit. Get level 1 of a logistics dropsuit to be able to use a standard logistics dropsuit; I recommend either Gallente or Minmatar because the standard logistics suits for those races have 3 equipment slots, while the Amarr and Caldari ones only have 2 at standard tier (they get more in higher tiers).
Have level 2 or higher drop uplink skill (in dropuit upgrades) to be able to use 3 different types of uplinks: militia, standard, and stable standard. Most uplinks only allow you to have 1 of each of the same type active at once, so it is important to have multiple types.
If you have a logistics dropsuit, load it up with the different types of drop unlinks. If you do not have a logistics dropsuit, make 3 dropsuit fits, each with a different type of drop uplinks, and you will need to die and respawn, or use a supply depot to switch between them in battle; supply depots can usually be found near your MCC, or generally in the area where your team first pawn in.
Get an cheap militia LAV. New players start out with a couple, but you can always buy more from the marketplace under the militia section (with ISK you gain from battle), or just restock it from the vehicle fitting menu. To call in the LAV in battle, press the right button on your controller's d-pad, select vehicles, LAV, and select the LAV fit you want.
Once you have your LAV and you'e wearing a dropsuit with drop uplinks equipped, put one uplink around 120 meters from each of the main objective locations, or the outposts (the huge building complexes with multiple objective). If you're not using a logistics dropsuit, make sure t switch to a different dropsuit fitting with a different type of uplink after setting each one. Make sure you space your uplinks apart so they won't be spotted in the same place by the enemy, and destroyed.
Elevated locations are very useful for keeping enemies from getting to your uplinks, but also for giving your teammates spawning in the high-ground advantage. Whenever possible, go for the high ground (climb ladders, etc).
Periodically check if your uplinks have been destroyed, and set new ones if needed. Even if they are never found and destroyed by enemies, they will run out because they have limited amounts of spawns. Make sure to keep track of what types you already set that are still active.
Feel free to ask questions or clarification.
