Hey, fellow blueberry here! I gotta say it in hope that some of the new guys in dust check out the forums, and take heed. STOP GOING FORWARD! This is what I see when in battle with a team full of blueberries. Please don't take offense to the term because we are all blueberries to someone ::)
1. Dropping bad uplinks
A bad uplink is one drop in a momentarily opportunistic position for ones self putting the team at risk or in a terribly bad position. For instance! Ambush starts.... your the first to drop an uplink so everyone spawns on it before you can even see where you are good, or the enemy?! Enemy spawns on the platform above you, and your team becomes fish in a barrel?!
Stop this practice as it is a selfish one. I don't hold kdr in high regard, but I don't wanna give mine a beating for no reason either?! Not saying you can't drop your uplink(s). Just do it in better positions(i.e) high ground, behind a large number of fairly decent cover that's directly in front of open ground leaving the enemy open, or up high( which isn't always a good idea).
2. Stop running to the enemy(and a beat down)
You have only a vague idea at best of what your up against by checking the leaderboards in the beginning of the match for names and corps. It is a foolish tactic to sprint across open ground to the enemies hunkered down positions expecting a good outcome?!
I see this much too often in ambush and skirmish. In ambush the "I wanna beat you to the kill guys" usually just loose your team 10 clones right off the bat?! They almost never win the initial exchange because they're in an open area far from cover and comrades. They get mowed down like grass, complaining all the time about the unfairness of the rail rifle(mid to long range auto-fire rifle w/scope and 55+ dmg at lvl 1) smh?!
Then in skirmish, where speed can be an opposing factor on the battle, we have the guys in medium suits and heavies trying to beat the scouts off their job of sprint, hack, and report?! COVER THE SCOUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! If your the first guy to alpha it makes no sense to hack first genius?! Let the man behind you hack while you setup the fire wall, duh! If a dropship drops 4 guys off at a point. 2 hack while two cover. Secure the area FIRST! Then move forward to the objective. The kills will come to you at this rate, and you'll find less friendlies trying to elbow strike you for your lvl of stupidity.
3. Scouts! Uplink, CRU, and point. In that order!
Stop hacking for the wp's, and start hacking for the team! Drop the uplink.... +25, +25.... now go hack the CRU with some support by fire support.... +50/+25. Then the point +100/+50, and watch your kdr go up, and your foot hold on the area last longer.
Hacking the point first just triggers the alarm giving the enemy time to counter, and making their counterstrike more effective. If you follow this simple rule at an unsecured point you will get the uplink points, the CRU hack, the point hack, and maybe a turret as well. Or you can hack the point first alarming the nearby heavy in the lav! Not good for any scout?! Especially a noob?! He washes his boots with you, and calmly hacks the point back with no one in support of you. Your choice.
4. This game gave you wp's for a reason!
To many times do I see guys go 4/14 with 200 wp's?! Listen closely.... YOUR RIFLE IS SECONDARY TO YOUR EQUIPMENT SLOT! If your a new player (below 5 mil sp), let's face it. One on one usually ends badly?! GO FOR THE ASSIST!!!
Look guys kill assist (+25), nonohive resupply (+10), scanner Intel (+15), hack assist (+25), nanite injector (+60) and more than a kill (+50). Vehicle kill (+40) for an lav, (+150) for a tank, (+75) for the dropship, and add the (+50) for every body aboard. Vehicle kill assist (+30) lav, (+75) for hav, and dropships take down points are still sketchy at best so bare with ccp on that one.
Do you get the picture yet? Stop being cannon fodder by trying to be soap from Call of Duty?! Your not going to kill all three of those guys in the middle of the roadway unless they're lagging terribly?! Your going to do much better in this game by supporting your team. You don't have to be a logi. Just carry something in the equipment slot, and stop leaving it blank so you can stack damage mods?! That won't help you?!
5. No squad?
What? Do you like to loose? Let's say you just wanna run solo ambush, stacking isk, and not waiting on convo. Cool bro i'm right there with you. Still, GET IN SQUAD! In battle squad up after your first death if there's a slot available. Get on mic and say "hey guys I hope it's ok for me to join you guys for this battle? We're getting slaughtered here, and could use an ob( orbital strike) to capture alpha. I'm running an assault rifle, and a needle (for example). What do we need?"
Instantly! Your not the blueberry with the needle pissing everyone off, by picking up guys in front of incoming fire. They are now letting you know whether to hold position for they're spawn, or go ham with the needle. You go from "bro what is that blueberry doing? I need cover fire!" To "thanks for the ammo bro! Is that a lvl 4 hive? Yo what corp you with?"
You can leave squad immediately after battle, with new acquaintances to boot! And the comeback win in the bag! A simple "hey everybody grab your swarm right quick" goes a long way! 6 militia swarms will take down any tank.
So in review. Running forward without cover fire? Fail?!
Shooting while standing in the open? Your already a dead man?!
Hacking the blinking object first? Fail?!
Nothing in the equipment slot? What are you, challenged?
Don't take this wrong i'm not ragging anyone?! These are mistakes I made early on, and I learned the hard way?!
Become the warpoint warrior you were meant to be! More often than not I go 9/3 with 1600 wp's just by assisting my fire team (3 man rifle team). And i'm an assault/anti armor player.
"Anybody order chaos?"
