Yeah, they are high.
The recoil can be a tad bit annoying, but it shreds through pretty much anything.
Also, why is there an overheat mechanic? You can empty an entire clip and a half before overheating, so why have it in the first place?
Kill 1 and 7 more come right back.
Makes you wonder if tankers are like zombies.
Although, that would explain a lot.

The base damage for both the ASCR and the SCR is the issue, it needs to be toned down. I don't use it but my corpmates who do use it even agree that it needs rebalancing.
One of my corpmates records PC matches and its a joke how easily he drops proto assaults with it, he holds the charge which he then uses to drop all of the enemies shields then its 1 to 2 standards shots and the enemy drops.
I think that what would help is if the charge shot slowly heated the gun so that its couldn't be held indefinitely 5 seconds max then overheats.

There is no recoil. Zilch, nada, zip. Fire at a wall and see how high the barrel climbs.

You can overheat you Balac's Assault rifle before expending an entire clip.. Heat mechanic isn't only native to energy based weapon.
Oh and you overheat the ASCR on the second clip usually.. |

i always notice a huge kick when I fire my CRD-9.

if you compare the ascr to the ar for example ar is better simply because the lack of kick makes the ar a lower skill weapon while the ranges and dmg are comparable to every other rifle the lack of kick and ease of use with some rifles makes them stronger than other.
if you take 2 people of = skill one is using ar one is using ascr i would expect the ar to always win..because its easier to use
the way i look at it the ascr is the hardest rifle to use of its range class.
if you look at the assault variants of rifles
assault ar..or the stnd ar assault cr assault rr assault scr which one would you consider the hardest to use..? they all deal very relevant dmg to each other..but ease of use makes some stronger..why are they easy to use? the only difference i can see is the kick

swarm master = av lvl 99+
