Remove the Dropsuit command skill and replace it with the 4 races basic command skill eg Caldari Dropsuit Command, Gallente dropsuit command, Minmatar dropsuit command, Amarr dropsuit command, this will give access to all STD suits at lvl 1 all ADV suits at lvl 3 and all proto suits at lvl 5 but these will be basic suit variants which have a higher cost than the specialised suits and gain no racial bonuses
-Each of the different races trees then split off into each individual suit eg Caldari Assault, Caldari Logistics, Caldari Scout, Caldari Sentinel, Caldari Commando and each of these contain the racial bonuses for each individual suit and they give access to the role specific STD suits at lvl 1 ADV at lvl 3 and proto at lvl 5
-Apply this same system to the weapon tree as well so remove the weaponry skill and the light/heavy/sidearm weaponry skills and replace them with each of the 4 races skills eg Caldari Weaponry, Gallente Weaponry,Minmatar Weaponry, Amarr weaponry which again give access to all STD weapons at lvl 1 ADV lvl 3 proto lvl 5 but basic variants which have higher fitting costs, higher ISK cost and have no racial bonuses applied
- Unlike the dropsuit changes the races will then split between Heavy, Light and Sidearm and these skills contain Fitting bonuses for each type of weapon so the higher the level the lower the fitting costs and then each tree will split directly into each different weapon so all racial heavy weapons in the heavy tree all racial sidearms in the sidearm tree etc etc and then each of the weapons has it's usual rapid reload, ammo capacity, and whatever bonuses they usually have
The 2 new skill trees - Racial Dropsuit Commands and Racial Weaponry Commands should be more SP intensive than the current dropsuit command and basic racial command skills so that they cost roughly the same as it costs to take a suit/weapon to proto level .. because they give access to basic variants of all that races suits and weapons it should be a bit more intensive because the benefits of having the skill maxed out is huge.
A skill tree like the one i propose above would lessen the gap between Vets and new players and would also give new players the opportunity to try out various combinations before they skill into them fully as they could just level the dropsuit command skill of the race of their choice to try out all the suits that race has to offer ...
it would completely negate the need for any future respecs ever (after giving 1 for introducing this system obviously) because if the suit you want isn't out yet you can just skill into the basic racial dropsuit command so that when it does come out you have access to the basic variant straight away whilst are still able to use other basic suits in the meantime (you aren't forced to choose between playing in militia gear for x amount of months incase the thing you want gets introduced or having to skill into a role you don't really want to do but have no choice as the 1 you want isn't out yet)
An example would be pilot suits, say they get added in 6 months they will be added to each of the races suit lists so there would be a new skill Caldari Pilot/Gallente Pilot etc etc intead of havign to sit on sp for months on end incase they get added yu can skill into the basic suit skill of the race you want to use all Basic variants of that races suits and then when the suit you want gets added you can fully specialise into that suit and still keeping access to all basic variants at STD/ADV/Proto level at the same time so you don;t feel like the SP has been wasted
I know 1 complaint this suggestion will get is FoTM will be easy to spec into ... but the obvious retort to that is .. there shouldn't BE a FoTM in the 1st place .. everything should be balanced and a skill tree like this would allow them to balance things easily
