One of the things I considered big time when joining my corp was comradery. Not large numbers, or the leaderboards. I respect the grind! The rag-tag crew of daredevils! Not the gravy train or the bandwagon. I earn my respect on the battlefield, and make my name known to my enemies. Loathed by my enemies, and loved by my friends. I don't understand some of the players mentalities in this game?! The "me" mentality is seemingly a going thing in dust514 among the mercs. I played solo jumping from squad to squad freelancing until I found like-minded warriors. Help me understand why guys would rather join established leaderboard corps? Joining the winning team is always sweet to the eye, but rough on the soul in my book. I would rather join a 10 man corp, and be desperately needed and valued. Than join a 1,000 man corp, and just line the top players proto closet with my isk tax. Some of you seem desperate to find a corp, and demand nothing from that corp for your service. I'm not saying demand payment or nothing like that, but here are some questions you may wanna ask. 1. What do you stand for, and what won't you stand for? If they allow unhonorable tactics(i.e) intentional spawn camping, attacking the redline after you have clearly won the battle, or any number of looked down upon actions. Then maybe this isn't the place for a merc with a code of honor. 2. Will I get assistance with funding on our operations? For instance our support by fire and transport players. Tankers and dropship pilots. Will they be expecting you to carry them into battle, and take down the world for them without hesitation on your own wallet..... ALWAYS! Not saying they should foot the bill, but set a quota. The corp can fund a set number, and after that number for the week or month your on your own. Fair is fair. I know when I need tank support I don' t want him at the redline afraid to loose it I need him yesterday! So I have no issues helping with the cost. 3. Tactics and fire support? If you are assault, medic, or anti armor this is first on your list. No one wants to keep getting annihilated constantly with no fire support?! If i'm shooting and go down I expect a kill assist +25 to show up immediately! Followed by an attempt to revive. You should have some type of solid squad leader development and system in place with set squad tactics. A silent squad leader might as well be dead. Find a squad you can compliment, and they you. Your fit and style of play should be either supporting or built upon. If you run assault maybe another assault player and a anti armor player should make up your fire team for example. Plenty of highly efficient combos. But the practice of the one on one trade won't win battles, and surely will leave your squad, team, and corp broken?! 4. Will I see field time in squad? I've heard reports of guys joining corps only to be left out of squad repeatedly and all while paying taxes?! I know not everyone gets along, but find the man a place and home in a squad where his talents are felt and respected. He should know atleast two squad leaders well enough to squad up almost immediately, and be an asset. This behavior is hereditary with corps of numbers in the thousands. 5. PC and factional battle? If you yourself are not pc ready don't force yourself into a demorilizing string of lagged out defeats?! PC issues aren't fixed, and the battles are usually onesided more often than not with players well over 20 mil sp dominating players who don't really understand the game all that well yet. Factional has issues as well, but the big problem for corps is player diversity.
The list goes on, but this is a start. See what the corp has to offer you, and what you can offer them. This should be a mutual agreement, not taxation without representation. If you find yourself in a corp without a voice just feeding some top tier guys proto addiction. Maybe it's time you found that 10 man corp, and earn a place on their A team. Any A team, large or small, is better than the bench.
Remember, victory without honor and valor in battle is empty at best!

The alliance swamp has joined is ace, a collection of like minded guys with great potential at around the same level.
Much fun is going to be had
I'd like to state right here that if theres any small corps looking to be part of something and you are not far off being pc ready, with eve and dust knowledge and level heads, canis could be for you, we are not interested in l33t scum who care purely about winning, those types are a headache and can't be trusted, don't have your back and whine far too much in game when they get killed, boo fking hoo lol.
Contact cyrax servius. I am ashamed to admit that I can't remember our aalliance ceos full name, just the first bit. I take full responsibility if we are not accepting apps at this time and I apologise.

........... wall.
I read it and will respond. But....... wall. Fix it. Like now.
1. That's too vague. That kind of thing you deal with as you see it. I don't tot around a list.
2. Reasonable compensation should be expected of course. But only in operations for the furthering of the corporation. I would also expect a corp tax to sustain that compensation and operation costs.
3. Tactics are not something that you have or don't have. Everyone 'has' tactics. Whether they're well thought out and efficient in using the squad make up and other variables is another thing. I'd like a corporation that focuses on paying attention to what you have in each squad and making a gameplan on that.
New Eden is a realm of specialization. Your going to be building on something for a long time and getting everything you want to the levels you want will take a while before you can move on to another role. That being the case, I'd want a corporation that knows how to use what I'm specializing in to its fullest extent. I want to be part of a unit.
4. The game is no different than any social situation in real life. People like to be with those they know the best. And may not be out going to reach out to just any old person. Once squads and cliques start being solidified, those newer additions would find is hard to get into squads early on. This is hopefully where directors, officers, and dedicated squad leaders come in who pull people in not only to strengthen a corporation bond but figure out how best to use they're mercenaries for the benefit of all. Corporations shouldn't be increasing their numbers just to increase tax revenue for their select few. This is New Eden so it's not unheard of, but your asking our opinions correct? And that would be that a mercenary corporation should be like a business and brotherhood. Filling your ranks with mercs that you aren't training or bettering is just clutter.
5. This one is something that I have a hard time swallowing but a good point none the less. A good mercenary corporation takes time to be ready for that point. And how you build it up will determine how long it lasts. Whether is blows up, goes far then disappears, or gradually makes its way up and stays there becoming a corporation that permanently makes a name as whatever it is. One thing I hope to achieve in due time.
I've now given you a reasonable response. Again....... wall. Fix it +_+

Your lucky I'm a good reader because I found you stuck your reply inside you quote of my post.
And a wall refers to a large block of texts without breaks, lines, partitions, etc so that the post doesn't just overwhelm a reader.

Oh ok thanks I kind of zoned on it a bit. It was an issue that I had been pondering, and actually spent some time finding the right words. But the advice is noted.
