Not necessarily a request, but an idea to get CCP dev thinking, if they haven't thought of an Amarrian light AV weapon yet.
TL;DR : Dumbfire Swarm Launcher that shoots 2 small-scale flux missiles, and 2 explosive missiles.
Developer: Khanid Innovations Fire Method: Dumbfire Rate of Fire: 1 "shot" every 1.5 seconds Damage Type: First two missiles are small-scale flux missiles, second two are explosive shaped-charge warheads (meaning low splash) Damage: STD: 300 flux (2m splash for full damage), 300 (1.5m splash for 100 damage) exp (per missile, respectively) AVD: 350/350 (125 exp splash) PRO: 400/400 (150 exp splash)
Pros: * Strong against shield tanks (I believe flux damage isn't affected by hardeners, correct?) Cons: * Only 50% effective against armor (only last 2 missiles do anything to armor) * Dumbfire & Travel Time: Meaning shots need to be lead against moving targets * All 4 shots must hit for full effect: Unlike Swarms, these missiles won't track(so technically they're rockets) and thus a a moving target will only be effected by the shots that were accurately lead. Also, 4 missiles coming out in success for one pull of the trigger means that all 4 need to be lead quickly and accurately for full effect. * Small splash radius on warheads (both flux and exp) means that it can be usable against infantry, but needs skilled aim
People familiar with EVE lore will know that the Khanid are a splinter faction of the Empire, but have begun to make amends with Jamyl, so this would be an Amarrian weapon, probably a light weapon. The Khanid also have a lot of close ties with the Caldari, and every Khanid ship is an Amarrian hull that uses missiles (the primary Caldari weapon) instead of lasers. So I think it would make sense for a Khanid weapon to closely resemble a Caldari one, at least in operation.
For it's appearance I figure probably something resembling the Swarm Launcher, but with Amarrian/Khanid accents.
How's it sound?

We should make the Plasma Cannon viable before we ad any more dumbfire options.

The combo of flux and regular explosive sounds OP.

Also this thing sounds like a noon tube, that would OHK most infantry, all the while requiring little skill. NO.

Also this thing sounds like a noon tube, that would OHK most infantry, all the while requiring little skill. NO. *Plasma cannon does it's full damage (+/- 10%) to both shields and armor. This thing is only 50% effective against armor as the first two missiles are basically small-scale flux grenades, that only damage shields.
*Landing all shots (since it's a 4 shot burst), this thing would do 1440 damage to a shield tank (exp missiles would do only 80% damage) every 1.5 seconds (not counting the time between each shot in a burst), giving it 960 dps. That could be easily tempered with a slower RoF or a small clip + reload time.
*I gave it 2m splash on the flux warheads. The flux grenade has a 6m radius and does 1500 damage at standard. This would do 400 at proto in only 2m radius.
*The exp missiles have an even smaller splash radius at 1.5m The Mass driver has a 4m radius, and only gets bigger as you skill up. They would both do similar damage, though, a 100 (116 STD level for MD), so that could always be adjusted.
To be a "OHKO Noob tube" would require either someone standing completely still and pinpoint aim, or exceptional tracking ability and pinpoint aim.
It's not like I didn't put any thought into this. But I was hoping more for a critque on the mechanics rather than the raw numbers.

But I was hoping more for a critque on the mechanics rather than the raw numbers. If it was single fire like the Plasma Cannon, it would be fine. No more than 1 shot per mag, and at least 4.5 second reload time. Any better, and it would be horrendously unbalanced against infantry. Dumbfire weapons are hard to do right, and if you do them wrong, they are insanely OP/UP.

Well I tried thinking of a single-fire but was unable to come up with anything that was just "Plasma cannon, but does this type damage)" when trying to think of a Khanid weapon.
Hence why I was trying to do more of a theorycrafting ("Idea" vs "Request" in the subject line) with it.
I do appreciate your feedback, but I just had to respond to that one post because I felt I had a "defend my honor" sort of stance because I had put some thought into it as to not be the missile shotgun the original swarm launcher was.

I do think is sounds like a pretty fun weapon to use... And seems like it could be balanced if given the right drawbacks. But, if the vets stories of dumbfire swarms have anything to tell us...

Updated now with time between missiles in 1 salvo and reload time, giving it a new DPS of 576 and a sustained dps (meaning reload time included) of 285.
