(and pardon the spelling, not currently on computer) sorry for the length, i just dont know where else to post something like this in the hopes a DEV will see it...and hopefully add my voice to any (if any) others who have the same feedback.
I have been playing DUST for a year and a half now. Have been around since early closed BETA and have gone through many updates and patches...and the 1.7 patch makes playing hard for a 'normal' player. I USED to WANT to play all the time. I used to LIKE playing. But since the 1.7 patch it feels more like work than anything else. The primary reason is the vehicle imbalance. One of my toons used the SP re-spec to maximize his swarm...I have maxed the damage I can get with him, as well as use a proto swarm. This weapons PRIMARY, and only, function is to get vehicles and installations. Installations are fine. But, even with a proto swarm, unless I get really lucky, or there are a mess of other swarms firing with me, taking down a vehicle seems impossible. There is no balance anymore with the vehicles.
The other day, using this toon, I shot a tank and his shields were full again before I could {get} the second shot offGǪ and the thirdGǪ and the time of a reload...I had no chance...and to top it off...I had to be in the open enough to lock on... Which meant I was CLEARLY in his sights, and very much in his range... To reduce the range of the swarm was one of the dumbest things I've seen rolled out for DUST... Needless to say, the tank killed me very easily with no more damage from me registering... And forget about dropships... Stupidly fast with amazing {ceiling}... One shot strike from a swarm and straight up {it} goes...to come back a few moments later all full health...the whole time his gunner shooting at, and hitting, me cause they have longer range than a swarm.
The installations can do the proper amount of damage, but lack the ability to look up far enough to get the dropship if he goes straight up. I was in a railgun turret monday, shot at a blaster tank but not killing it... He came out from behind the building, still hurt, and my turret with no damage, and his blaster was able to outshoot me in a straight battle, killing me. Yesterday I was in a battle where the red side had 5 tanks on the field.. Blue couldnGÇÖt even call in a vehicle before red blew it up. The speed, power, and defense of tanks offsets so much balance... I doubt very seriously that I have been in as many red-line matches in ALLLL the time before added up, as I have been since the 1.7 release.
Sometimes I get lucky and end up on the winning side of these red-lines, but most often than not, I am not. And even if I am, it's no fun 'cause the tanks get all the kills... They are low scoring, low points matches for anyone not in the tanks. And I know lots of people will just say spec into tanks and fight back... I donGÇÖt want to... ThatGÇÖs not where I want the direction of my toons to go... Also starting now will cost too much time and practice and isk to rival some of these guys who've been doing it for a long time now. When someone who has never played the game can join, and without spending a single skill point, but can buy a militia tank and ROLL over experienced players, there is an imbalance to the game... No skilled, militia tank noobs can beat, regularly, my multi-million SP swarm specialist without effort; the game is obviously unbalanced.
I get the feeling the DEVs are just throwing ideas at the wall, see what sticks, then push it out without fully testing it...OR the DEVs are tank/dropship pilots and got tired of being the target they SHOULD be and just wanted to win more... Unless you come out with a vehicle, and god forbid even ONE player on the other team is better, you're gonna get your butt handed to you...there are wayyyyy too many red-line matches caused by tanks anymore. The vehicles need to be readjusted...more reasonable. PS; I donGÇÖt need/want feedback from regular players...especially haters/trolls... I just wanted my voice heard on this subject.
I edited your text slightly to make it more legible. Anying in brackets was a word I changed or added in order to make the sentence flow a little better. This will allow people to read it a little easier. I know typing on a phone/tablet is rough.
I know you didn't want feedback but I figured if I spent the time making the sentence easier to read, I might as well leave some feedback. Many, many people out on the field have no idea what the heck they are doing with their Tanks. It has been an utter feeding frenzy for me. I have only encountered a couple people that obviously knew what they were doing and gave me quite a fight. Because of the current environment, I think you would have no trouble learning how to drive a Tank. It isn't that hard to pick-up but can be a little tricky to master (knowing when to reload, when to escape, when to use hardeners, etc.)
Swarms are probably in a bad spot but it is not the range department. Being able to stand in the center of the map, likely having high elevation, and hit Vehicles anywhere on the map was a bit too much. The damage on Swarms is fairly low, especially compared to the Forge which seems to be fairly good against Tanks. That probably needs to be pushed up. |
