A keen management of your resources, and steady perseverance in collecting them, will result in a full-fledged mercenary able to shine in any battle. That is the point of this guide. List of resources Skill Points: SPs are the most important element of a DUST 514 toon and can be increased actively or passively. Representing the ability to equip gear, they must be invested thoughtfully. Inter Stellar Kredit: EVE Online currency is called ISK, so it makes no surprise the PS3 side of this game boasts the same medium of exchange. Aurum: AUR can be purchased with real money and therefore are widely frowned at. They can basically be turned into the resources described above as accelerated SP boosters or AUR variants of the items available on the market for ISK. This guide will be describing how to play without using AUR, but in case you decide to purchase some the time required to reach and end-game build will be shortened. Furthermore, DUST 514 would be supported too. Loyalty Points: LPs have been introduced with Uprising 1.7 and can be spent to access exclusive top-tier weapons at the loyalty store, which features a comprehensive list of other LP items as well. Factional Warfare: With a payment in SPs and LPs, these battles are fine for more experienced mercenaries. Be aware friendly fire is on. Gameplan for a new mercenary As of Uprising 1.7 some characters can boast 30 mil SPs, so how can a new toon possibly be competitive in such an environment? There are two ways. Specialized Build: Even by levelling up to V every skill involved, prototype fittings will hardly require more than 25/30 mil SPs. Firstly, this means the gap between old and new characters can actually be filled. Secondly, a new mercenary should be trained to reach an end-game build in a specific role. Example: Blueberry invested 2 mil SPs for his dropsuit and 3 mil SPs for his scrambler rifle. Redberry spent 2 mil SPs for his dropsuit, 3 mil SPs for the combat rifle, and other 3 mil SPs for the rail rifle. Although Redberry has 8 mil SPs, he is able to use only 5 at a time. Just like Blueberry. Teamplay: Not related to any resource of the game, this is another key aspect of DUST 514. A microphone is likely to be required, and joining a good corporation could be convenient. First steps in New Eden Out of the four starter BPO fits, Gallente has the only one which does not require tweaks.
