Hello to both of you!
I am curbing down my contributions to this forum, but I just had to post a response that I hope will help BOTH of you. It's rare to get an "error" acknowledgement show up on your PS3 screen (usually the game will just freeze or throw you out of the game or give you a blank screen with zero explanations and zero acknowledgement of a problem).
So the fact that you are seeing your PS3 "admit with real words" that there's a problem, is a GREAT THING. You can ease your mind that there is NOT any problem with your console itself. This is the reason why deleting all your console's Dust data and re-downloading or even "re-purchasing" the game,... doesn't have any useful effect. And that's good news, in a way.
When the trouble is on CCP's Server, it's usually termed a problem with your Account (yes, each of our merc identities on the PS3 is actually a 'Character/Client Account' in CCP's storage world),... and the solution CCP uses almost instantly is to detach-n-repair then restore your account to their Server. Apparently it's a simple quick thing for them--they've done it for several players I know from the PSN forum, and they reported full success.
So the fact that it has NOT been fixed that way, and isn't getting fixed at your console, points to the last thing: the trip the data makes getting from the CCP Server to your PS3 location. In other words... "the phone/data service guy". You know him , he's the guy who tells you your internet service is perfect and clean cuz "It's Fiber-Optical", when secretly it's spiking or fading a bit... just enough to muck with whatever sort of communication Dust keeps with your console when you're playing it. (Judging from the INCREDIBLE flurry of lights on my router panel when I play Dust, the data conversation between console and CCP Server must be smokin' busy! )
Internet service providers will never easily admit if they are charging you $100 for signal smoothness that may drop to $75 quality between 4 and 11pm , etc. And CCP will have a hard time "fixing" what is partly not their problem. This kind of explains why they asked you to change router/console settings, hoping to "bypass" what they suspect is internet hiccupping.
Hey, if you use your console WIRELESSLY for internet, see if you can plug in a wire to the router the ole' fashion way. This will work ONLY if your router isn't sending its wireless signal well. ...It's worth a try. Good Luck, both of you! |
