You don't have to be an official field commander or squad leader to answer my question although those are the very people I'm excited to hear answers from. My question is, does your corp constantly use an overall strategy with tactics to win or does your corp's field commander just tells you to go and slay?
I'm asking this because as my personal experience, I've seen strategies range from some what organized tactics to simply "kill em all." and there's often someone arguing against whether or not we should be strategic or just go with the flow.
My experience as a Field Commander showed me that a good strategy can work but I'm wondering if doing such really matters and can we just pull off two or three tactics and let the rest of the game play out.
I personally prefer strategies with tactics because we have an overall plan and steps to take to get there and the organization to outperform the opponent.

Depends really on the map how many points there are and where they are located 3 inside 2 outside or vice versa, also depends if its a clone pack attack |

if you don't have a strategy, you are at a disadvantage. The opening maneuver is critical. It's best to have a strategy and then let the FC dictate and adapt that strategy based on developments throughout the game. If all 16 people do not know specifically what they are doing in the first 60 seconds, I would imagine you will lose unless you foe is far inferior to your team in regards to skill level.

Anyone that steps into a PC match and just tells their guys to "go kill em all" is an idiot. Any overall starting strategy depends on whether its an attack or defend, how many clones you and your opponent have to work with, the map and how you've structured your squads based on the roles/skill you have available to you. Every squad should know at first spawn where they are going, how they are getting there and what they are doing once there. While you should have squad assignments laid out for the start of the match, after first spawn it is up to primarily the FC and secondly the squad leaders to make calls, adjust and rotate depending on what occurs and how that initial game plan plays out. Those that go in with no plan or often worse aren't able or willing to improvise on that plan or any back up are just asking for fail. |

I've been in PC for many different corps. Ranging from fresh PC corps to more experienced ones. I've always found that a good strategy works far better than a "you guys know what to do" attitude. Of course the FC needs to know what's going on all over the map and adapt the plan many times throughout the battle to make it work. If your FC can't adapt the plan properly and everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off you're doomed for failure.
All in all I'd say the first 20-60 seconds of a PC are absolutely critical, especially against the heavy hitting corps. |

I find it's more about improvision because plans are great but if it's too complicated after a few minutes your master plan will likely fall apart so just have a general aspect of what you want to do and what your going to do when things go wrong.

in my opinion, any decent PC ready corp is going to have a strategy going into the battle. The FC and the team should know what map its playing on before hand. And there should be some kind of fall back in case the starting rush doesn't work out for some reason.
If you hear an FC going "kill em all" there either incompetent or extremely confident. The only time a "kill em all" type of order should be given is when your team has almost killed their team and the only plausible way to win is by cloning them out.
As far as a "overall strategy" Generally our corporation has a specific procedure we follow when setting up a strategy. But like a lot of other people already said, its map specific and there really is no "one answer for everything"

Having an experienced FC always helps facilitate a battle. It takes map insight, planning , organizing, and lots of experience. You have to know when to listen to your squad leaders, improvise on the spot, keep everyone focused and cool. Respect your troops and in return they'll obey. I'm fairly new to the FC role, what helped me improve was getting into every pc possible and shadowing the FC. Observe and listen. Learn from your mistakes, those are what make you better :) I had the honor of seeing QG, chicagocubs, and sinmonger in action. It's hard I'll admit my k/d is ****** in pcs cuz I'm constantly trying to analyze the opponents movements or I'm looking at the map lol and our corp is relatively new and attacked by corps that outclass us. But we try our best and my corp knows I put a lot of effort so in the end we still have fun. good luck o7 FC azzkikr619 |
