Why are FW matches friendly fire on and ambush/skirmish/domination are not? I dont really get it.
I prefer FF and feel like when its off u get into bad habits with gunfire and grenades. But maybe you have a lore explanation that I dont know about. Just a question that was bothering me is all. |

I believe they stated that they wanted FW to be more competitive and tactical than pubs therefore they turned on friendly fire.

I would love gameplay only game modes though, that just puts two fingers up to lore and is simply for fun.
Like ninjas vs hunters where ninjas only have nova knives, get camo until 3 meters and don't show up on scans at all and get insta kills, while hunters get what they like. Or arena shooter style game modes where the floors are always slippy, everyone gets double normal speed and fire rate is increased by 1.5. Or even a 6v6 mode where people spawn in vehicles and can't jump out.
Something tells me that FW is suppose to be the actual gameplay but public contracts are simply side grinding to fuel the main game. If that makes sense. |

This was what the gladiator arena was to accommodate--game modes like capture the flag etc that didn't make sense in the context of space warfare. They were to be arenas built on PC territories that allowed corps to host their own custom battles...kinda like that mode in Killzone: SF where you can choose your parameters. Streaming and betting is part and parcel of this too. I imagine we'll see it.......................some day.

can you tell me, from a Lore standpoint, why is the game rendered in 780p?

People are still careless with grenades in FW.
When I use knives, I get team killed by grenades almost as often as the enemy kills me.

720*. Its even worse than you thought. I'm not a Dev or anytyhng though, but I can tell you that developing for this game isn't easy. The amount of optimization and knowledge of hardware as well as software needed in order to get this game to the standard of others like battlefield (basically what it is on the ground), or call of duty (gotta admit that 60fps is pretty sweet, even with muddy textures), or farcry (those huge maps to a pretty high quality)... its pretty immense.
I'm not trying to defend CCP for making a game with atrocious visuals, but I am saying for a company who has had no connection to the playstation3 until 3 or 4 years ago, compared to planetside2 who's company made the PS3, or other mainstream devs who have made games for the PS3 for nearly 8 or 9 years, CCP is doing pretty well...
Although the visuals are still **** and they should step up their game. |

For all I'm concerned, the events that transpire over public contracts are not actually canon. I would never fight for Blood Raiders or True Power, you kidding me?
And if you want a more direct answer, sometimes gameplay trumps lore. Would you really want them to add int friendly fire for pubs just so they make sense in lore?

Maybe someday we'll have something along the lines of:
Training simulator, the only one without FF Infestation for PVE (don't shoot your friends) Faction Warfare for squad play Low Sec Planetary Conquest for mercenary corporations. Null Sec Planetary Conquest for alliance warfare.

Or be aloud to set up a defense matrix like turrent that turns off FF for your corp. Under the above meta exscuse. That in it self could add a whole new element of depth
