To those that do not play EVE, take a look at the Tengu to get an idea of what I am saying.
In EVE, there is a class of ships called the Strategic Cruiser. They, as base ships, are the worst ships in the game. Slowest, least tanked, no slots for any fitting. However, they have three special "Slot Types" that actually create their ship; Defensive, Electronic, and Offensive. Each Slot Type has about 5 different choices. One of the Offensive Slot choices of the Tengu is to gain 5 Missile Hardpoints and extra damage when using a certain type of missiles as well as giving you an extra Medium Slot. Another gives you 5 Missile slots, 1 Medium, and lets you put in Drones. One lets you even use Hybrid Turrets rather than Missiles. The Defensive Slot gives you different Shield and Armor amounts as well as giving you different bonuses in regards to being Defensive.
It seems like it could be a cool idea to have in DUST, letting people make their own Suits for their own type of gameplay. |

hmm interesting... but strategic vehicles would be way nicer..
T3 tanks and dropships... ohhh the rage and tears that would create would be a new record.
think a rail tank is bad... imagine a artillery dropship dropping fire onto you with a 5-10 meter blast radius from the shells... :)
but yeah making it that you can make a suit to your liking would be a game changer for sure... though the cost would be astronomical. like 5 times the cost of a current proto suit and then you would have to the sub systems for the suit and gear.. so 1-4 mil ISK plus suits. and that would then be the new proto stomping gear. |

What's the difference between an immobile Minmatar ship and a pile of garbage?
The pile of garbage is more lethal.

If you've read more than two of any of my posts, you know that I'm all for DUST following EVE as closely as possible and only modifying things to make them work in an FPS.
That said, the idea of Tech levels is so far removed from DUST that I don't see it happening in the near future, and even if that weren't the case, I don't think anything resembling Tech 3 should be attempted at all until 1) DUST gets its racial content (not just dropsuits, but vehicles including MAVs and other aerial vehicles, and weapons), and 2) Tech 3 ships get a rebalance in EVE to see how that plays out. |

one of the most essential parts of eve is left out of dust: freedom, exploration, open-world gameplay.

my time table that I would like to see... yes its long term but like eve, id like to see dust 514 have it's 10th year celebration in hmm 8 years or so from now.
1 id like to see all the gear/suits and vehicles implemented.
2 Get PVE in the game so people can actually have time to test fits, work on tactics as teams etc. also include a trainer simulator that allows people to try the advanced level gear for any race be it suit/gear/vehicles that can be used in a small arena. people get frustrated that you train into something just to find you hate it.. this would solve that issue
3 then have a solid year of just plain usage to get a good balance, never be perfect but well balanced. then get all the equipment to have specific reasons to exists... lavs for transport light anti infantry, mavs to kill lavs and infantry, tanks to kill all etc. all air vehicles would also have specific tasks/roles. also would include support structures like turrets, CRUS and supply depots that can be called into a battle when a certain amount of WP is accumulated.
4 few more PVP match types with at least 5 to 10 open area maps where vehicles can be used. an additional 5-10 maps where it's mostly in doors.. large complexes where vehicles cant be used at all. and finally 5-10 maps that are unique to dust.. vertical maps, POS conquest, capital ship maps (yes I want to be able to take over carriers dreads moms and titans, maybe even some inside of sleeper stations or ghost sites. saying 5-10 on each for a bare minimum.. if we could have say 20-25 for each of the 3 (open world for vehicles, closed for infantry only and the unique ones) that would allow that you don't get the same map... over and over and over again.
5 then work on tech 2 and tech 3 etc.
1 and 2 needs to be implemented within at least next few months to allow for any expansion of the player base. if not the game will become more stagnate .
just my thoughts on the matter.. |
