For those of you who don't know, Sony announced a new service called "playstation now" which effectively allows anyone who owns a playstation 3 or 4, or sony TV, or mobile device will be able to effectively "stream" video games onto their device and play it wherever they are thanks to the gaikai cloud service.
So will Dust be available on this service? I mean, that would allow for people to technically play Dust on PS4 assuming they have good enough internet.
Theoretically this service is to allow backwards compatibility with every ps1,2, and 3 game. (assuming you have the corresponding controller). So what do you guys think? Does that technically count as dust on PS4? I think it does. And its supposed to be out across the world before 2014 ends.

Maybe this is why the PS Vita app developement was stalled? Because Sony were doing CCPs job already.
Doesnt matter in Dust 514: PC. FW Standing. Tanking Type. Other mods than DMG or HP.
Does matter in Dust 514: Rifles.

What want to know if if "renting" Dust with this service will be free since Dust is free to play. Also, do I have to be a PS+ member to access the service?

The PS VITA was never meant to be a platform for playing Dust outright. It was meant to operate a companion application built by CCP that allows you minor functions outside of the game that can impact changes inside the game such as putting together a fitting, sending and receiving mail, etc. Basically something that compliments Dust.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

I would imagine it goes like this. Currently on the PS4, you don't have to pay for online if you only want to play free to play games. In other words games like Dust, Planetside 2, and Destiny are all games that you wouldn't have to pay Sonys Playstation Plus subscription to play. There just free. However, in order to stream a game like Dust or something like that, I would suspect you would have to pay some sort of subscription soley because it costs money to run those gaikai servers all the time. It would cost less then the Playstation plus subscription, but it wouldn't be free.
Im assuming anyone with a playstation plus membership can have access to these services for free though.
Beta for PSNow is.... now. Its closed beta anyway. The service is supposed to come out this summer to NA. And the EU is supposed to get it before 2014 ends. The only reason its taking longer for the EU is because theres a lot more countries and therefore a lot more internet legislation to work through in the EU.

How exactly is this game client side? By my recollection most of the actions are based off the servers. There is some strain on the client as far as video memory is concerned, but Sony already explained this at their press conference.
Yes, this service will eat connection like theres no tomorrow. But anyone with a decent connection should be able to play. The higher the connection, the more quality you can get out of the game. Obviously if your connection is unstable your not going to want this service. But if lets say you have a standard Comcast connection with 50 mb/s download/upload you should be able to run a game like this no problem.
Its literally the same concept as Netflix, just the server plays a video game for you instead of a movie. This concept means that so long as you have a monitor that can connect to the internet in some way, and the correct controller, theoretically anyone should be able to play any game on various different devices. Including the vita.
They were able to demo games like God of War on one of their TV's which is pretty impressive in my opinion.

The PS vita was never intended to play PS1 or 2 games either but I guarantee you it will be able to once this service goes live.

In the announcement for PS Now they said PS Now will have its own subscription separate from PS+, but there is also he option of renting individual games for those without a subscription. I really really hope that free-to-play games are available for rent as free, though it is likely they will make them require a PS Now subscription like you say.

Yeah, the service is absolutely great, so I would be surprised if they allowed people to play some games completely for free without some sort of subscription. That would just be idiotic from a business perspective considering im sure Sony is investing millions into Gaikai in order to create a sufficient enough cloud net to allow for the server strain that undoubtedly will be the biggest problem with this.

ah, yeah don't pay any mind to that. There are hundreds of games that are 100% client side and way more graphically intensive and resource hoggish then Dust is. Fallout 3, or Killzone 3 for example. Those games should be available no problem and if those games are available then I see no reason why dust shouldn't be.

What you're asking for is 2 streaming to happen at once. One from the application to use the game - the other to use the game online properly with the rest of us.
I just don't see it happening, but I'm not a wiz at these things and could be completely wrong.
EDIT: Mulitplayer online will be available on other games though, so who knows?

The way I see it is that this game has to stream data through sonys servers then to CCPs servers. (I think). I mean you have a point and I understand what your saying. But theoretically I don't think it would be that big of an issue. If anything the game would be a bit laggy in terms of responsiveness. So perhaps....... idk. Will just have to wait and see I suppose.

The best I could see this working for is connecting a client such as PS Home to our Mercenary Quarters and allowing players to boot up a local shard that allows them to walk on 'station' with Dust and Non-Dust players.
