neither is optimal personally grenades, but that's 'cause I really don't use them. Frankly which ever way it goes I could care less I'm mainly bumping this 'cause I want to see where this conversation goess.
maybe instead of minmatar not getting the second equip slot they lose grenades??? |

maybe instead of minmatar not getting the second equip slot they lose grenades??? From what I heard the devs were thinking of Min scouts loosing the 2nd equipment slot. I say they should just man up and make us run around with just knives. Our enemies can't complain about cloaks then if we're so helpless when we're spotted.

Currently, I have to sacrifice my grenades just so I can have a decent weapon AND modules that don't suck. So I would prefer not having a grenade slot.
But ultimately, a scout should not have to loose grenades or a sidearm. It is not like they'd be OP if they had them both in conjunction with two equipment. And considering how much CPU&PG scouts have... well, they'd have to sacrifice SOMETHING when making their fit, just like they do now. |

My understanding is that scouts are getting a systems buff as well. Looks like we'll be able to fit pretty much whatever the hell we want in the future

Im not a scout but knowing how squishy they are from having killed a buttload of them, I look at it this way:
If a scout runs into a situation where he basically has has to switch to his sidearm (i.e a strafing close range firefight) then he's not likely to survive anyway, making the sidearm slot pretty redundant.
Grenades on the other hand is both useful for surprise assault purposes (lobbing them on an unsuspecting enemy before shooting them) AND aid in escape from firefights that scouts aren't supposed to handle (lobbing your grenades at a pursuers feet while retreating).
Thus I'd rather have grenades and that extra equipment slot rather than a sidearm and no grenades.
Besides, i'm used to playing as a logi anyway and we don't have sidearms and do just fine. |

Scout should not have to sacrifice versatility for the sake of a class ability. Loss of either will reduce the effective of the class.

That's actually a good idea.
At least one Racial Scout should have 2 weapons, grenade and equipment, at least one with no sidearm and extra equipment, and at least one with no grenades and extra equipment. Then we see where people go and how effective the different options are. |

sidearm
i can fit a sidearm on my light slot if i need it. and nades... ahh pretty pretty flux nades, 1000 ehp heavies just love to have 1/2 their hp gone in half a second and the "armor" half by a CR :) seriously, without nades i would have to resort to RE and plasma cannons (at which I suck badly) to somehow kill the tanked dudes before they just turn around and wipe the floor with me |

Scouts can give up sidearms and grenades when all suits lose them. Until then, nope. Unless, of course, in exchange, CCP is going to give scouts the HP of the heavy and all the highs and lows and CPU and PG of a proto logi. That would be ok, I guess, but I still would miss the idea of having equipment (including paid-for BPOs) being rendered useless to me. Scouts are weak enough, quit pretending to be having to make hard choices when scouts are the only suits getting the shaft in this game.
So, to sum up: if CCP takes away sidearms or grenades, they are bad people and even poorer game designers.

Let's say each suit has 9 slots and the suit itself. (this is probably high). And lets say you kill 80% of the enemy clones.
25% of salvage divided 16 ways (6.25% remaining salvage) of the 80% of 150 clones, and a good chunk of those things might be BPO, let's say 10% conservatively...
You are looking at 15-20 pieces of salvage if you kill most of their clones. |

Uh, scouts need more slots, not less.
And more PG/CPU. I don't always carry grenades on my scouts, but that is because I lack CPU or PG. |
