Im in my ADV minmitar scout and suddenly a heavy appears out of no where and one hits my scout with SCR... Like, how fking hard is it to scan a fat heavy? |

I think the passive scans are jacked up. I'm only at level 3 scout and level 3 scan resolution, but I too have been snuck up on by a heavy.

Passive scan doesn't seem to be constant. It seems to me that a scan goes out at some interval. If your range is low, it is quite possible someone can sneak in between passive scans. (once they are scanned, they stay scanned though)
That being said, my lvl5 gallente scout w/ 2x cmp range amps passive scans just fine.

LOL at Minnie Scout attempting passive scanning
I run a FIFTY METER passive scan and it barely fails me. By design, when you initially spawn, you do not appear on radar, so that has been a severe thorn in my side everytime I hack a CRU or objective.
It doesn't fail. Only the users. Have you seen this?

This issue right here is actually the main reason I started running an active scanner on my logistics suit. For some reason, people could get 2-5meters away from me in buildings or be around corners and they hardly ever showed up on the radar despite my suit range being at least 10m. I grew tired of it so in came the scanner. Rarely get snuck up on anymore.

Did it ever occur to you that the heavy may have been using profile dampeners?
