i like the direction of the proposed changes as seen on sisi but the gap between the 2 could become too much of a gap
my suggestion break the mule part of logis away from the medic part.
logistics/medic
logistics mostly as you have planned for equipment buffs. the mules of the battlefield but they could also become the av'rs of the battlefield too with only a slight change. allow them to equip swarms/plc and the future versions for the other races in their sidearm slot as a role passive.
medic has repair buffs, higher tank but comparable to assaults. only 2 equip slots. basically a in-between of logis and assaults for the sole purpose of following assaulters and heavies where these new logis would melt from any fire. bonuses would be to tank and to triage hives,needles,tools repair amounts
what this gives us is 2 distinct logi roles. the carries everything mule role a logi should be and a frontline repair role. while both are specialists in their own area they are both still able to do each others roles to lesser effect.

keep your commando suits.. not worth messing about with and they are not av suits. the reason i suggest it for logi suits is because they are the carry everything you might need on the battlefield suits but its not always needed. av fits into that category. and frankly there isn't enough of it about. giving logis this role gives them something else to do when ammo isn't needed or uplinks are plenty. allowing them to fit it in a sidearm slot allows them to protect themselves better because at the moment its virtually impossible. i have seen a single guy tear apart a full av squad no matter what gear they had fit. and its hard enough to av as it is.

I'd be happy if they brought back the T-1 and T-2 variants. One had more equipment slots, like we have now while the other had one less than the former but bonuses to speed and stamina. That could have been build on further with the different racial suits through different bonuses. T-1 could have support/equipment bonuses with more equipment slots while T-2 could have one less slot but bonuses for indirect combat or EWAR like the Minmatar's hacking bonus or the Gallente's active scanner bonus. Everything is too streamlined when bonuses are binded to skill books with no deviation for versatility. It makes everything bland in the end.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Yes that was great, all of that was great, except the assaults having two equipment. That blasted logis into obscurity when people caught on that a squad of assaults can do it better than a squad with a logi, they were all round better at killing back then if you recall, the assaults, quicker, faster, stronger and better.

Being able to switch between multiple types of Logi suits would be great. Keeping the current bonuses on the logi class with the new bonuses for the Frontline Medics being in a Medic Logi suit would be great too. I prefer the current bonuses for a pack mule situation, and find myself in that situation more often than not. IDK about the rest of the Logis, but it is quite possible that many others feel this way as well, we need to be able to survive long enough to get to the fight and continue to haul gear as the fight moves. The slow movement rate of the logi suit makes this difficult while under fire. The lack of sidearms means that we get caught between reloads and cut down before we can find cover quite often. The assaults on the other hand seem to have no problems with this.

Field Logistics Gets a bonus to all equipment and has extra mobility. Gets two Sidearms.
What's the difference between an immobile Minmatar ship and a pile of garbage?

dont want to use 2 lights weapons
what i do want is a suit that is capable of doing av and protecting itself. what i do want is a medic orientated suit capable of rolling with the assaulters where they are needed what i do want is logistics which with the new skills are going to be very weak against everything to be able to move around the battlefield dropping off supplies when/where needed or offering up av support

If you want an assault, you need a level 3 basic medium.
If you want a logistics, see above.
It's already harder than it needs to be. All this without variation due to a series of SP sinks made to look like a skill tree.

we have 2 different variants of each weapon in the same skill tree. i dont see any reason not to have this for the suit tree's. some suits do have less need for variants but others do. scouts and logi's especially as their roles are wide spread and the role bonuses don't do them justice.
i'm a logibro, current role bonus lets me repair on the front lines. with the new proposed changes its going to be far more difficult to do that. meanwhile my logi mule suit gets a buff which is good but my main role is to keep people alive.
its not enough to be a logi that does everything anymore. we need to become more specialised

we have 3 suits that fulfill all combat roles but we only have 1 suit that fulfills all support roles.
we need more logis suits to fulfill roles to take some of the heat of the logi.

new logi suit types so we have a full spread (not racial specific. just a general idea)
blockade runner - light frame
role bonus: can run undetected while cloaked. on decloaking speed is reduced by 50% for 10secs. duration reduced with skills. 10% bonus to speed of drop uplink respawn rate per level 2 equipment slots
medic - medium frame
role bonus: 5% bonus to repair rate and injector hp amount per level 25% cpu/pg reduction to repair tools and injectors 2 equipment slots
heavy supply suit: 25% reduction to cpu/pg of deployable equipment 10% increase to effective range of deployable equipment per level 4 equipment slots
now these should all be balanced fittings wise as non combat so not to take the place of their killer counterparts yet still be able to run with them
scouts infiltrate and take out the guards. the blockade runner drops uplinks to bring in the heavy support.
assaults take the brunt of the force. the medic survival wise is that of an assault but their repair skills are much greater than anything else so are able to support assaults wherever they go.
the heavy supply suit is the battle supply chain. it carries all the hives and explosives you might need and can take a beating getting it to the front lines.
just some general ideas. then we can have proper balance

Like Adam points out, we have variants of weapons (unlocked by the same skills) It's high-time we had suit variations to promote a larger variety of playstlyes
I proposed a new variant of Scout a while ago, one that is designed to be cloaked This would remove the necessity of having a cloak related Scout bonus...
I don't see why replies are parroting 'Uh, use a commando' 'Assault can do that anyway' When these are decent proposals that would add greater depth to our gameplay
Plasma Cannons works, any less drawbacks

the main problem i have with logi suits is that the slightest change doesn't affect 1 role it affects 5,10 or more as the suit has to do so much to start off with. when an assault bonus changes from example rof to damage nothing really changes.
the logi as we have it suffers to many roles at the smallest of changes. what more specialised suits gives us is better diversity and ability to fulfill roles
